the dispays that are used are manufactured by agilent technologies.
i beleve that agd uses the red, because the display is the brightest out of the 5 color choices.
i beleve the part numbers are
HCMS-2915 for the AlGaAs (high intensity red, probally the one they use on the emag, but i don't have an emag to check)
HCMS-2912 for the HER (high effency red)
HCMS-2914 for the orange
HCMS-2911 for the yellow
HCMS-2913 for the green
these can be ordered from www.arrow.com in quanaties of one, their handeling charge is a little steap, so a group buy would be a smart move.
blue leds go for about a buck a pop, a buck x 8 5x7 led displays would be about 280 bucks
. so i don't think that you are going to see blue any time soon manike.
