new style ss freak back are weak

well i no longer have a freak back or a freak insert. slid into a hyperball bunker and barrel hit it. well needless to say i come up to shoot and well my barrel is no longer straight. it bent at a good 30 degree angle. i didnt even hit the bunker hard either. its only mm thick ss where freak is engraved... just to let u know be extra carefull witht he newer style ss freak backs.

I actually wouldn't doubt him. If you look at pics of the new SS backs with a sleeve inside it is VERY thin there.

I have one of the new SS freak backs for my cocker and I would really like to see some pics of this bent one. You should also contact Smart Parts about it.

this was bent at a 30 degree angle but to get it off the gun i had to bend it back. it was pointin upward when on the gun.

Sad...that needs to be reported to SP. I cannot belive they would want to ruin a good thing.

ive called SP multiple times. i have yet to contact the retruns deptartment. when i do i should be all set. they r great barrels. the aluminum base is nearly indestructable. the ss base looks really nice but is fragile. just gotta take care of it. i guess next time i dive into a bunker ill be huggin my gun.

first thing i noticed when i bought my freak (about a year ago) is that the back is about half an inch thick. glad i got it then and not now. that thing wouldn't break if you dropped and anvil on it.

i want u to all keep in mind that the SS back is a cosmetics piece. it looks better but is weaker. the Aluminum stock backs r very very strong. the first version of the SS bases were strong as well but the new version for looks compromises strength. the freak is a great barrel and i wouldnt get rid of it. and i would expect Sp will take care of the problem for me.
