what is the lenth of this barrel

does the 12" boomstick for a emag/automag, actually measure a true 12" or is it a little small/longer, because ive been trying to decided between 14" and 12", and the 14" just looks really long on an emag,,,,

if anybody has one, can you measure it and tell me

i would think the barrel would look smaller since like 2 inches go into the body of the gun...my 16inch freak looks HUGE!

it's the whole length although they are either just a tincy bit longer or shorter than advertised length.

I think it depends on the maker. I know i have a carbon fiber barrel for a mag that i put up against another carbon fiber barrel for a cocker and the mag one was shorter. I know that the mag freak barrels are aboot 1.5" longer than any other barrel of the same length. That last sentence doesn't really make sense but you get my drift.

yes, mag barrels are generally longer than their advertised length. this is especially apparent in smart parts barrels but most all other manufacturers produce thier barrels a bit longer as well.

for a freak, a rule of thumb is to add about 1" to 1.5" to get the true length. As for boomsticks, i'm not too sure.

What matters is the length from the point the ball is launched to the tip. In most barrels this is pretty much the same as the overall length of the barrel - this is NOT the case with a Mag barrel. A Mag has an extra inch and a half or so where the ball ball drops in from the loader.

A PROPERLY sized 12" Mag barrel should be about 13.5 inches, give or take a bit.

Unfortunately, some manufacturers cheat you out of that extra inch or so, making their 12" barrels 12" overall - which means your barrel comes out a little shorter than advertized.

So, if you WANT a 12" barrel, you should be looking for something to measure more like 13.5" If you want a 10" barrel, then overall should be more like 11.5". Since many folk like 10" (its supposed to be the opimul length) they like to buy the ones advertized 12" that are actually 12" overall.

Smart Parts, as one example, gives you a true 12" of barrel, thus they LOOK a little long.

don't get me wrong, this is not a flame. but can you verify that? because i always thought it was the oposite and when you ordered a 10" you ended up with an 11.5". But i may be wrong and that's why i ask that your verify what you've stated. thanks

No, actually that is consistent. If you order a 10" SP barrel it will be 11.5" end to end.

What I'm saying is that 1.5" of that length is not actually part of the barrel proper, its the part where the ball enters the chamber.

There are some other brands where if you order a 10" you will get 10" end-to-end, which means you ACTUALLY have an 8.5" barrel, again because you shouldn't count the 1.5" at the breach where the ball loads.

Depends on the company producing it.

My Dye SS 12" is 11.9" from the tip of the muzzle break to the end of the metal past the twist locks.
