hey FatMan they could use cameras like the ones in Nascars there enclosed they can move around and zoom in and they are self cleaning so if one gets shots it can wipe itself off
Think i may have figured out why paintball isn't on TV

well the problem with not being able to tell what someone in shooting at is to put the stuff that they put on bullets as tracers for every few balls or something.
also cussing like in b-ball and the like are censored so shouldnt be to hard for them to do itComment

well u could use DD solution for seeing the paintballs use green paintballs and use the Greenscrean effect but i dont think they would have to do it live they could have a camera on every player a edit it so u see all the important moves and the comentadors could come in watch the tape and then say stuff that way u get to see everything important and hear all about it they should also do little tech tips and stuff in between games and also have replay and slow motion after the game to show u what happend
for crying out load they show bowling and spelling bee's who thinks that more interesting than paint ball anybody????

A TV Director's Opinion
I have been in the business for almost 20 years, and have worked for ESPN, Fox and a lot of local sports networks. So here is my experienced opinion:
The whole thing boils down to one thing: MONEY. If the network can make money off of it, which means up front and by selling advertising, they will show it. If I want to put a show on ESPN I have to pay them for the air time and convince them that they can sell the available air time I leave them in the show. I get to add 4 to 6 minutes of commercials and they get the rest of the time. It they can't sell it, they won't buy it. And the production has to be up to their standards. No offense, but TraumaHead wouldn't cut it. Neither would my productions right now. We are both small time.
I hope to eventually get a show on TV. Maybe a single tournament, but it would have to be a big one. It takes money though. I have put estimates to do a show using a real TV truck, 5 cameras, announcers, live replays and graphics and the estimate is over $30,000. And that doesn't include editing.
Another big problem is the way tournaments are held. Three fields at a time won't work. Ten definitely won't work. TV can only cover 1 field at a time. And everything on TV is on TV time, not tournament time. The promoter of the tourney has to give control to the producer of the TV show. Play when TV is ready, don't play when they are not.
I'll stop here, but suffice it to say that there a hundred reasons that paintballis not on TV. But don't give up. As the sport grows, and manufacturers mature, paintball will make it to TV.
And now my plug: I hope to be one of those that makes it happen.

I think there should be no more than 3 man teams for televised paintball. Heck, I can't even figure out what's going on in a 10 man team, how's John Q Public supposed to? I think some overhead shots would work really well to see the layout of the field and every player. I'm going to start filming my friends playing paintball, I made a wood box with a plexiglass front to surround and protect a Sony handheld 8 mm. Should be sweet.http://www.digitalpaintball.net - I love this game!

For the amount of money it would take to editing and get enough men and cameras it just doesnt have the money behind it. No way could the networks make money unless the shows had some sponsers and most paintball companies don't have tons of cash to blow on commercials let alone magazine ads. When there is some bigger promoters in it then it'll have a chance.Click For a Free IPOD!!! IT Really Works!!!

Y'all seem to have forgotten, or not know about, the lawsuit against ESPN by a certain (at the time) major paintball personality.
When we were on ESPN lo those many years ago, ESPN had a contract with a company that put on some tourneys. When ESPN didn't get the viewership that it wanted right off the bat, they cut back the number of shows that were shown to the very minimum of the contract. They also changed all the times to late late night. This hacked off said personality who then sued the network.
P-ball has had a rough time getting on the air since. Plus, as I recall, he lost the suit.

The shots of paintball is going to be the most difficult part on TV. Overview will work although it will not show the true perspective of paintball. The face cam is a nice idea but it isnt very effective. Bouncing around and choppy doesnt really look professional which the TV executives aren't looking for. XFL did that and it wasnt very interesting(both the league and the shot) Bunker cams are a good idea, but they provide a very limited view and will get hit a bunch. Until somebody comes up with the perfect idea for a shot that looks good, professional and gets some action, paintball will not be an effective force on TV.
Skateboarding had this problem too. Then they figured out the best shot for street and that was the the view looking up when the boarder is jumping. Genius, you got action, good perspective, and very pro looks in that one shot.
Also skateboarding shows got airtime I believe by asking sponsors to buy out the commercial time. The networks were happy, the sponsors got TV time for their products, and the skateboarding shows were happy since they were on TV. Most important, the whole skateboarding community was recognized. Maybe paintball can do this too. Get AGD, WGP, WDP, or any company to buy out the airtime. The bad thing is, paintball isnt that rich yet, but it is getting there soon.
