AO,
"I would like to thank the Academy for this Oscar" LOL!! Been out in LA for two days to do a cameo appearance in the first feature length paintball movie!! It's an independent film by Mirus Productions that should be available in video and DVD this fall.
It's a paintball version of Karate Kid with the good poor team vs the rich bad guys. The showdown comes at the local tourney and not like you would expect. I played Don the local store owner who introduces Budd (playing himself) and Steven Philips as the tournament sponsors.
To me this was an impressive affair with a production trailer, makeup and wardrobe trailer, food wagon and a crew of 35. The director was one of the big guys on ER who was off for the summer. All of the cast were real actors that did a great job.
Most of the industry ignored the producer when he asked them to get involved so it ended up being me and Budd. This was a professional group that needed releases to use pics and names. They changed my lines at the last second when some famous players I was supposed to mention never sent in their paperwork and got dropped from the script.
So as it works out some of the good guys will be shooting Minimags and the captain of the bad guys shoots a C&C Warp fed Extreme. Budd gets the Orracle shown with the mentor known as the "Phantom".
This is not going to be a pro tourney film. It's about average players in a small town trying to be somebody. It's about going from zeros to hero's in a way the general public can relate to. Budd and I are really excited about it and hope it has a big effect on the industry. Since I am involved I will get info first hand on when and where we can get sample clips etc. Yesterday was the first day of filming so we might see short clips in a few weeks, when we do we will have an online party to promo them.
MOST IMPORTANTLY!! If this film just breaks even there is funding to do several more after. This makes it VERY IMPORTANT that the first one gets a good rep and people buy it. If people write it off as lame before they even see it that will guarantee there will be no more.
Man I hope I get invited to some of those Hollywood parties....
