It wasn't a bad show, definately geared towards people who have less that 2 or games, or are brand new to the sport as a whole. It was played during a block of informercials (in detroit atleast), so there were no "commercials" per say, but the show's producers put in breaks to give their sponsors some air time. Sponsors included:

          • Kingman - who appeared to be the overwhelming sponsor

          • 888Paintball.com

          • NPPL

          • RPS

          • ActionVillage.com

          • Wherehouse Music

          • Raven

          • Worr

          • Tippmann

          • The show ran 30 minutes and had 6 segments:

          • Paintball History

          • Vid Pick - Music video

          • Talked to Raven about the Nuvis 2.0

          • Tuning Corner - How to gut and lube a Spyder

          • Spyder Cup II 2001 - and NFL celeb game

          • Interview with Zack Ward - Little brother from Titus

          • Whether or not the Titus and NFL inclusions were at the request of Fox for the networks own promotion is a bit unclear. The NFL players were horrible about keeping there masks on, but atleast they'll help a bit to broaden the sport.

Will I wake up at 8 on saturdays to catch it from now on? Probably not. Was is extertaining and good to see a very well done show (very nice production values) that displays our sport in a positive light? You bet! Did I feel like I was watching a half hour, thinly veiled Kingman ad? Sadly so.

              my thoughts on SF

the music video was an unexpected change of pace that i liked...

the spyder adds annoyed me horribly.. as did the 88paintball adds... kudos to WGP(o commercials) and tippman(1 or 2 short commercials) for sponsering in name only and not annoyance...

in video clips id much rather see an actual game or two than 15 different clips of the start of one...

HOWEVER i wonder if the show picked the right target group?
-it obviously catered to ppl with less than 5 games under their belt but are these really the people that are going to get up at 830 AM to watch a show listed as "PAID PROGRAMMING" in tv guides, on a network that a minority of tv owners even have?????? i highly doubt it... in fact i'd think its safe to say only the most hardcore paintball fans will be watching, many or most of whom probably either play in or have intrest in tournaments.. the question is can the 5% of our sport that is involved in tournies produce enough ratings to save this show?? again i doubt it =/

While its refreshing to see a legitimate view of our sport on tv, i personally would rather see it as a tournament or BIG games/ important scenario coverage with almost a play by play action.. (think how in football when madden shows a slow motion play and draws all over screen with yellow marker thing showing what each player did and when)... it would easily work for tournaments.. giving a more strategic view to the sport.... as for the big/scenario games well it would use same princaple just for general troop movements...(think what your history book looked like when it showed a civil war battle picture)
Another thought would be to do an UNBIAS REVIEW of gear with a panel of ppl rating what they do and dont likee...
example: review of all moto loaders...5 reviewers review all of em and rate them UNBIASLY stating the reasons why they liked and/or the reason they disliked or do some testing as far as which can feeed 150 balls fastest/ support an angel on full auto longest.. etc...etc..

i dunnnno just my personal thoughts but it seems to me the show has more potential than it does interesting material.
like another AOer said in a post above me: i would have turned it off if not for the fact that it was paintball on tv... ive ranted long enough

Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever.

I haven't reviewed the tape yet but i saw the classic RT 3 times, once during the show, twice in the action village commercial (one glimpse was the same shot as the one in the show), then saw i think a classic 68 on the wall of their proshop. (if i remember right)

The show was great if you either:
                A) owned and loved a spyder
                B) never played
                C) played a few times but was somewhat clueless

Also the meat's and potatoes of the show was a little outdated..i mean..spydercup 2001? i guess kingman did practically own the show

I don't know about getting up and watching it again, i probably will but i won't lose sleep if i miss it (literally)

The NPPL commercials were kinda neato (i forget who is here from NPPL).

Unless the show gets rolling i doubt there will be any unbiased reviews n such. I mean if your starting a show you can't get a sponser then when you review their product you say it sucks...The show probably needs more budget before that or at least be airing a little more so they can catch the eye of companies for them to send the show the products.

Only time will tell for this show

the three things that annoyed me the most were:
#1- That crappy music video, i couldnt stand it.
                    #2- all the advertisements
#3- showing us how to take a spyder apart and clean it...who couldnt figure that out by themselves?

one thing that i did find amusing was the football players playing, lol some of them were only watching one side of the field and people hung the flag while there were still opponents in play. i also thought there were going to be some helmet-cams? i thought i saw that on the preview on their website, but i guess that is for another episode...

It was for the newbs for sure, but who can blame them? We all know what paintball is, I guess they were trying to get some people into the sport and the advertising to buy their products for the people who caught their attention.

I had higher expectations and was kinda disappointed. They need more pro action, more camera angles, stay more on one game, but what do you expect for 30 min? The cheap jokes, and the picking on that guy really didnt do much.

I saw the RT and a bunch of spyders It needs more time, it needs more creativity, and the video, which I expected, was like something off of a skateboard show.I bet it won't stay on, and if it does, good for them. I hope it spawns some shows on the pro action with some depth and more hot girls

edit: The show I expect is like a football game, two announcers, some people on the field to get the players reactions before and after the game(there would be some action that would boost some ratings , losing team+ annoying questions=contreversy), and some part of the show to go around and look at the new products from the companies. Not all the attention would focus on the paintball companies, more on the game. Most of the show will be on the games and part for the new products and releases. It would cover the NPPL I guess and would skip most of the prelim action till the last 6 or 7 ending games with in depth commentation. They would keep track of the scores and stuff. Something more professional and not something newby.

I jsut saw it myself and it was kinda weak. Like every one said it seemed to be focused on newbies. The only good thing that I caught was at the end of the show. They are covering the Diablo Mardi Gras Open next. Hopefully there is some better coverage, videos, and stuff. Have to wait and see.

I guess the show was a good thing for the sport of paintball, and would be someone informative for newbs, but overall a LITTLE to cheesy for my taste. Hopefully next week they will focus on the mardi gras open.
