i grew up and started playing in a relatively cool climate(sf bay area) now i live in texas. if i get hit, and it doesnt happen very often, that means i get to go sit in the shade and drink some agua(i think thats what they call down here).the best way to meet new ppl and make a few new friends on the field is to congratulate somebody on a good shot.
Never cheated but I usually wipe off splatter that looks like I got tagged so I don't falsely get called out
doing this without showing the ref first could earn you an unintentional bad rep!

OK regardless of how bad ill get flamed, ive quoted it before and ill quote it again(not my quote)

"Theres 2 kinds of people in this sport, losers, and cheaters, which would you rather be?"

If u get lit up 2 steps before u bunker a guy in a tournament ur still gunna go mug him, thats cheating, and if youve played a tournament youve all done it so dont say you havent.

I've never cheated before.. actually I think I did once without knowing, I got bunkered and my teamate got the guy and I got hit in the sock, but I thought it bounced.. but it was white paint, so I couldnt tell, and there were no refs, and I looked at it, and I diddnt see anything, but after the game I felt it.. but other than that, I HAVE NEVER CHEATED, NEVER PLAN TO

If I get hit, I'll do my damndest to check and make sure that the ball broke before I call myself out. If it broke, then I'm out. If it didn't, then I'm still a sitting duck and I'd better move fast. If that's cheating, then I'm guilty as sin. I've learned to "check first, call later" by playing for a very long time (coming up on the big 10).

I think that most newbs automatically call themselves out when they get hit, regardless of whether or not the ball broke, and I think that this can ruin a little bit of their fun. I know this really isn't on the topic of cheating, but...

IMO people who blame cheating on having bad role models as pros are just tryin to justify it to be the right thing to do in there mind, so they dont feel guilty afterwards.

I can't believe what some of you are saying. You either cheat or you don't! I totally understand the fact that some pro guys cheat. You're fighting fire with fire and it goes on and on. Somebody has to set the example. Don't just be the exception! Be the guy that people look at on the field and say "hey, that guy didn't cheat!" I bet you'll even get a few pats on the back, and if not, just be content with the fact that you didn't cheat. Yeah, nice guys do "finish last" a lot of times. Maybe not though... what's important to you? Knowing you did the right thing, help give paintball a better image, were an example to all the newbs watching on the sidelines (whether they follow it or not) OR "winning" by cheating?

You cheat and then beat them with skills? That sounds like an endless circle to me - oxymoron. I know the feeling of hitting somebody, knowing you hit 'em, and then him popping up a few seconds later and he plays on. I see you're on a high level in the sport and the action is more intense... so is the cheating. You just have to decide you're not going to cheat, no matter what. Don't make it sound like it's okay, it's not! The other big guys are doing it, so I guess it okay. Reality check - cheating is WRONG and is NOT what paintball is supposed to be.

All that said I'd like to encourage you to NOT cheat. It gives paintball a better image and you feel better about yourself (although not immediately). Most of all you know you did the right thing. Cheating is totally wrong and I hope you realize what you're doing by following the crowd.

In response to the question... I try my hardest not to cheat. That's enough.

                i never cheated before

i dont know why people do it it seems retarded to me.

i mean you PAY to PLAY A GAME and then cheat because you suck? if you suck then get better. if you cheat now you never get better and you will be stuck in the same spot for the rest of your paintball related life. when i get in to tourney play i plan to win with skill or to lose trying plain and simple.

i do not stand for cheating, and as captain of my team, my whole team knows that. during a tournament, i was told by a ref (at the end of the game) that one of my guys had wiped a shot off his arm. well, when i was told this, we still had 4 games left before the finals, but i kicked him off the team then and there. i will not allow cheating. ANY team can cheat and win. do i play against teams who od cheat? yes. will my team cheat? no. i will not go down to their level to win a stinkin paintball game

I have never cheated, never even thought about it, if i saw any one cheating, i hollar for a reff. now if i see a team mate shoting i let them know promptly with a warning shot that they better had leave teh field. hearing a paintball wiz buy your ear and slam into the bunker that ur in isnt a comforting fealing.

thats how the game gets ruined, often its noobs who cheat, usually they respect the people with the nice gear ( i wanna say) but if they dont i will make it feel like they are not to be anywhere near this sport, that is just lame to cheat

I've wiped twice, both in rec ball and the first was a marginal hit more like spaltter through a bunch of vines, I didn't feel the thump from a direct hit.. I just saw it come in and looked down to see paint on my leg. I wiped it..
Second was not really a wipe more like playing when hit, and not knowing. At sometime during a game I had been tagged on one of my empty pods, since I never went back to it.. I never noticed me being hit. I proceeded to eliminate four off the opposing team only to have the last one notice the blatent direct hit.. shell and paint in the flap of my pack. Needless to say.. I'm now over conscious (sp?) about cheating. Anytime I feel a thump or even think I've been tag, I check and will call myself out accordingly.

I'm not a believer that playing while hit makes you a cheater unless its obvious, and you as the hit person would be able to tell you were hit. I.E. arms, legs, stomach wtc. Pods could be overlooked depending on where it was hit. Mask visors could also be overlooked and thats why refs are there. To see where you can't, and to call you out when hit in a not-so-obvious place.

I wiped one time, but that was like 6 years ago and I can't even remember the situation. I never cheat anymore and actually will leave the field so the cheaters can play with themselves. Paintball is far too expensive to waste on cheaters. Another things that I think promotes cheating is jerseys . They're silky smooth for cheating pleasure and its hard to spot hits with people wearing them. I wear a jumpsuit because its easy to see my hits and they don't rub out unless I have a washing machine handy.
Wait till they get a load of me.
