One-up me, will ya? I guess I will just have to recreate my valve assembly out of popsicle sticks and tape.

Anyhow, I can't say exactly how long it took. I would say that it probably took 10 hours for the MiniMag, a little less for the regular. That is just a rough guess.
I spaced it out over a few nights, as it really puts a toll on the wrists and elbows. But, I wanted to see how good I could get them by hand. Sort of a challenge to myself.

I am going to run them through some chrome, though, as the steel seems to hold prints.

Let me gather the specific info and put it together in a useful format.
In the meantime, here is some general information.
The basic theory behind it is to make finer and finer scratches in the metal. Once you strip the finish, you then work the metal with progressively higher-grit papers, holding a uniform direction. The rougher paper will get out any imperfections. The finer paper removes the deeper scratches from the rougher papers, and as you go up the scratches get so fine that they blur together, creating a mirror finish. You can then hit it with some polishing compound or metal polish, which will make it even shinier.
I did this all by hand. A dremel or bench grinder with a cloth wheel will also work. The feed-tube is the biggest problem.
As I said, I will try to scrounge up the specifics as far as grits and such.
