I'm the oldest member of my five man tournament team, being 19 years old. Three of us graduated high school two weeks ago, and the other three (one alternate) are going to be seniors when school pics back up. We've just played the second event in the Maine Amateur Curcuit, and we're beginning to encounter several issues.
1) Most all of our serious competition is in the over-40 crowd. They have all managed to go out and load themselves up with whatever costs them the most coin. If someone told them that a Talon was the best gun in the market, they would buy a warp feed and a maxflow for it just because "its the way to go."
2) The competition lacks any real experience. Three of our players have competed nationally on the NPPL circuit @ two World Cups, the LA Open, and Las Vegas. One has played for Adrenaline, and the rest of us have been playing regional NECCO and NEPL events competing with teams like Boston Paintball and the Hurricanes.
3) They make their bunkers and dump paint... lots and lots of paint. Most of these guys are overweight business-types, and their fat hangs out of the bunkers making it really easy ot pinch them out.
This is where it all boils down. Its an open tournament series, and we get our team together and start whooping pretty much everyone. And all they do is complain simply because a bunch of teenagers are handing their asses to 'em. In fact, they have the refs wrapped around their fingers so much, and its seriously affecting the outcome of our games. 40 year old cry babies make me mad. In fact, we were called a "sponsored pro team" - I think they should head out west and scrimage Hendsch and Dynasty... that would give em a wake up call.
//End Rant
