Yeah, but than you have to buy a fill station, and possibly a vlave. So tack on about $50 for a fill station, and like $30 for a valve if not included.Originally posted by RT_Luver

i paid 125 for mine (used) at a local dive shop. No, you shouldn't need to have any permit to have a tank, just have the shop write on the tank "for paintball use only" that way they wont have to check to make sure there is no corrosion (sp?) inside of it.
I also bought my fill station for 50 off of ebay, but i know i have seen them cheaper at a few places online.

The "For Paintball Use Only," is because most dive shops are under insurance that won't allow them to provide dive supplies to someone who's not a certified diver.
You still need to have an annual visual inspection done on the tank, and a hydrotest every 5 years.
The local shop owner who rebuilt my scuba regs last spring filled a tank this fall that hadn't was out of date on both visual and hydro. He died in the resulting tank rupture. I learned about this while reading Rodale's SCUBA Diving in the airport on the way back from the LA Open - it was pretty shocking - he was a really nice older guy. The magazine said no one knew why he bypassed the safety rules and filled the tank. I've had long talks with him about tank filling (and cross-filling paintball tanks from SCUBA tanks) and can't figure out why he did it.

If your thinking of opening a field, and would like to cascade using a series of 3.3k., and 3k tanks, ask your local dive shop about bulk order deals. They can be as cheap as 90 NEW(steel) with k valve during bulk orders(usually 8 or more.)AO #765
CCM Series 5
Prerelease Impulse
Hyperframed Warped Mag w/flatline tank
Feedback.
Good to know that somone of Tom's status seeks "relief" from a sport he helped create. A sport now ruled by a single patent.

With a giant 100lb bulk 4500 tank. They are big! Or a compressor......Originally posted by BTAutoMag
then how do you fill a 4.5k HPA tank?

You'd be better off just filling to 3k and having to refill than getting a compressor. One capable of filling 4500 psi will run you at least 8000 new.

They do make 4.5k scuba tanks. I dive off them, much lighter and smaller for the same dive time. THe only problem is that they use the "J" type of valve, with is capable of withstanding 4.5k. They do make adapers to "k" type valves but ive never used it. THe other problem is a 60 cubic foot 4.5k tank is aroung 400 to 600 dollers.(the are steel, not aluminum).
