'04 nation wide 24 hr ao meet???

is anyone interested in trying to organize a nation wide ao meet. if we plan it far enough in the future('04) that would give everyone time to plan vacation time and put together a little cash.

it should be in the midwest, so that its central for everyone.it should be a two day event, so that its worth the travel,and maybe a trade show.local accomadations and camping are a must.i dont know, i have seen a lot of reganal ao meets on the forum lately.i was just thinkin it might be time to start thinkin BIG.what do yall think?

I know I'd be interested in a National AO Day. When and where are the only things I need to know.


BTW, did you know the geographical center of the nation (including Hawaii and Alaska) is in South Dakota? :)

hmm im pretty booked up in 2004, i can pencil you in for 2005 though.

I think it's a great idea, BUT....if you plan too far ahead people will forget and/or loose interest. I think it should be sometime in June/July of 2003 (aka next summer).

Agreed. June/July 03 timeframe would be better probably. I'd go. Also, this will be much much easier to coordinate if there was a midwest field owner who'd volunteer to host the event. Ideally, it'd be great to have a few fields, with hotels/camping in a 15-20 minute radius. With a year of planning there might be a possibility of getting guest appearences (IE Tom, AGD teams, maybe pull some people who post on Deep Blue like Glen Palmer, etc) and sponsers.

This idea has been tossed around for quite some time now... there is even a secret page on it floating on AO somewhere. The idea was to have it in Chicago since it is kinda central and its AGD headquarters. Tours, tech classes, a big game, and other entertainment were on the schedule. Now, the people who were organizing this may not have the formidible organizational skills of BlackCell, so maybe those guys can take over the plans already made (it was for '03) and run with it. Tom already OK'ed the Megameet a while ago IIRC BTW.

how about challenge park? anyone got an inside line there for the posibility of hosting? how far is it from agd? i like the tech class idea.i also like the industry guest idea, i think i would add budd orr and oh pollack to the invite list. i'd also like to look into a paint sponsor(low-cost all-star for everyone!!!,its my favorite)

maybe we could arrange something with that field in o.k. that does the dig d-day game.all ao'ers on the same team ofcourse, or would that just be a 'turkeyshoot'?

I think this is a great idea! However, I just wanna make a comment on the time; most National Guard units drill in june/july. May I suggest august? I really wanna go, but I do my 2 week thing in July. Anyway, plan on!
