You know shartly - as someone who i thought was in the biz and who understood the importance of protecting your material and logos and brand image - Im a bit dismayed you would even suggest that uncontrolled use of AGDs logos be a good thing. You actually just backed up what I was saying. Those that are LICENCED to make those shirts most likely do get thier logos from the NFL organization. Those that PIRATE them either create them - or some how steal them. Piracy isnt legal or moral. Its not helpping the teams out by at all - its robbing them.
PS - "Yeah, they may make a billboard with a half naked chick behind a hopper! We know how AGD wants to protect its image. " I had nothing to do with that and wiether or not that hurts AGDs image is a personal opinion. Im talking about something much worse in the hands of someone who doesnt like AGD and is looking to defame them.

However, in legal "circles" it would not. If AGD posts the logo on the internet with the expressed purpose of allowing members to use it to produce products then they (AGD) are going to have a hard time stopping any product with their logo. If they only give it to those that ask, you have some legal recourse.Originally posted by shartley
So on one hand you (AGD, or you talking on behalf of AGD) can not LET anyone make just about anything they want, and then try to play the 'protect our logo and image' card...In most circles that would be called talking out both sides of your mouth.

I think what the best solution would be - is for AGD to set up a generic Licence agreement. Then for each person who wants to make a beanie hat or what ever, needs to sign the agreement. The agreement would allow AGD to review the product - or at least the design. So they would be assured the product was representing AGD in a GOOD way.
As for the maker of the item -have the agreement cost a total of $1. So they arent out any money -but they arent technically pirating anything (agreements posted on this forum/email wont hold up in court the way a contract would).
Both parties are protected - both get benefits - less danger.
This is how like football teams set up thier tshirts, coffee mugs etc. AGD gets more advertising - users get thier products with the AGD logo. Everyone happy.... well cept maybe shartly ;o)

The difference is the stated purpose of the "posting". There is nothing, either expressed or implied, on the AO site that gives anyone the permission to use the logos posted there. However, if AGD posted a logo with either the expressed or implied purpose of allowing it's use in the manufacture of products with that logo, AGD would loose some of their control. Arguing over how much control they loose is what makes attorneys rich.Originally posted by shartley
...most of the logos people are using are taken from the two web sites.. hence already posted by AGD.

"Wait, Shartley, I hope you aren't suggesting that source art files are actually available for certain endeavors.....That's just crazy talk. You should know that art files must be completely rebuilt for each and every application "
