help with maxflo bottomline reg

i went to the smart parts site, and they only have the vert reg. ok, so i got this imp, used. now, i have no idea how to work the maxflo, so please explain to me. also, i think something might be missing on the gun. the big front cap, that i think is what u adjust to change velocity, shoudl there be a spring between it and the gold colored piece. basicaly, explain EVERYTHING to me, assume i am a retard, cause i am.
