im guessing i have. dont remember specifically doing one. lol!

anyways, heres how i generally remove the reg:
    1) make sure all air is out. (no, the gauge does not count--poke the pin in the valve)
    2) double check that all the air is out. do the valve thingggy again and then remove the LP gague so that it can equalize the pressure if it has to. a simple wrench should do the trick here
    --now you can begin--
3)put a strap wrench over the body of the bottle
    4) put the reg in a bench vice with a think cloth(my old bathroom towels work fine for me) on each side of the teeth.
    5) twist like crazy

a couple things NOT to do
    1) use heat of any kind. these tanks are not made to have heat applied to them
    2) i dont recommend trying to turn the bottle by hand in the bench vice. all that comes from that is bloody hands(i know first hand--no pun intended).
    3) dont crack the gauge.
    4) dont loosely lock the tank in the vice. if you do, it will scratch. if you tighten it all the way, it shouldnt scratch at all

hope that helps. PM or email or post here if you need clarification

I did take a 45/45 tank to be hydroed, and took the regulator off the tank myself, however I would recommend that you take the tank and regulator to a pro-shop when you re-assemble it.

...incorrectly assembling a regulator to a tank could turn into a bad situation.

i emailed nitro duck and luxfer with my dot e because it had the same thing, said 3 years on tank, but read on a site it was 5 years
it's a 68/4500. both luxfer and nitroduck said it was a 5 year.

but its hard convincing the proshop that its a 5 year
