AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
sigh-- i really think that the wording "ruined a major event" is too strong..
Did BE meddle in an independently run event to unfairly promote/sell their product? absolutely. (by the way thank you JJ for having the guts to come out and say what you did)
Did BE run this event or have any say in its overall organization? no.
Yes, the affordable (BE) paint was of poor quality. I could see how that could influence a discerning player's view of the event as a whole.
While I'm all in favor of a BE boycott and appropriately written letters of concern to be sent to BE, it's unfair to JJ and the others who worked so hard to have the event run as smoothly as it did, to read that the event was "ruined". Despite the paint and air situation :) I think most folks would agree that Shatnerball was fun if nothing else.
*edit* added the dictionary definition for emphasis
I tried the cheap paint the day before and saw how horrible it was. I then bought the JT and it was plenty tight. (at 100 a case)
As far as the air was concerned, while it would have been better to have complete fills I found myself at the players area enough that I never ran out.
I rather enjoyed CPX. Now the footing in Armegeddon and Bedlam damn near broke my ankles...the other fields melded together to make a decent battleground.
What I didnt like is the fact that the majority of my teams had absolutley no idea what was going on. Short of assisting a teammate get a code from a specific location I never participated in any "team" functions. I just ran around and shot the hell out of people. Also, I have played paintball for 11 years and have played in several scenario games....lets not judge players by their markers.
I also had a problem with the fact that when the Borg and Klingon teams allied that they inserted in the same place. This alone led to the Federation getting pusshed back to our base and finally being overrun. If you would have made the allied teams insert in the Klingon base, the day would have gone a lot smoother and a lot more even. While this is more of a script issue it needs to be avoided next year.

Great point- if anything, the klingons should have had to go back to their original insertion point once shot out instead of using the borg point as a halfway.
