    Dye Aluminum barrels...

What's the word on these puppies? They worth the $$? How "long" is the porting?

If I missed something in my search, please enlighten me. *cough*SAM*cough*

i used to have one on my old mag. they have a lot of porting. so they are quiet, and inefficient. they are medium bore. IMO, they are very nice barrels. i'm not sure they are worth the money though.

I've got a Dye aluminum 12" barrel and a bunch of others. The first 5 inches on the front of the Dye aluminum barrel are ported giving you an effective barrel length of 7 inches with the rest of the barrel being essentially a silencer. By comparison, the J&J ceramic barrel has only the first 3.5 inches ported and the Lapco bigshot has porting only near the first .75 inches giving you a much more efficient if a bit louder barrel. If you want a good effective all around barrel I'd say my favorite is the Lapco bigshot first, the J&J ceramic second and if you intend to spend more than that for a barrel save some extra cash until you can get yourself a freak system you won't regret that.

You can get a Dye Al on AO's clasified forum for around $40. There is almost always someone selling one.

                        They suck.
I sold mine after one day of play.
Mine didn't clean well after a break. Shot good before the break though.
I love my Dye stainless....and my boomstick.
If you can stand the extra weight get the stainless.
