    Automags get no love?

    From: http://www.akalmp.com/akalmp/automag.htm

    "A u t o M a g

The AutoMag is a good rec. play gun. Made from stainless it will last a long time without heavy maintenance. However the design has a few flaws, one of which is the on-off. Being a blow forward gun it is a short to medium range gun. It's a good beginners gun."

Being a blow forward gun it is a short to medium range gun.
'nuff said... that comment alone immediately disqualifies them as any kind of knowledgable resource on markers for paintball players.

they may be low pressure experts, but that seems to be the only thing they are experts at judging by that comment

This sentence is also funny: "Being a blow forward gun it is a short to medium range gun"

That means that all the new Vikings they are producing are to be Short to Medium range gun, because they're open bolt.

That's funny, I don't remember the AKA guys saying that the Automag had any design flaws during the tech conference at the IAO, a tech conference that Tom was nice enough to host.
Demand better performance from your 68-AutoMag and install the Cyclone On-Off Valve

Reduces velocity drop-off during rapid fire.
Reduces velocity fluctuations when short-stroking the trigger.
            Provides crisper trigger pull.
we've all heard this before, I wonder if it even makes a difference.
            Javelin barrel for the AutoMag
            hit targets currently beyond reach
            Self-cleaning on most paint
not only did they learn how to defy physics, they eliminated the need for barrel squeeges!

We should invite them to AO so they can teach us the error of our ways. If thier products do what they say, great, if not, they should be stopped.

                  LOL!

I remember this one time back in 1987 when my dad called an auto dealer to see if they had any new Toyota Supras in stock. The car salesman said, "Yeah! We got tons!" So we drove 45 min to check it out and sure enough, they had only 2 cars... neither of which were what we wanted (not stick shift). That bastid! Well, he didn't lie...

Wow that is so old. They have had that up there for years and I mean years. Obviously they are blowing smoke. I think people get a little too personal to their marker. It's a marker, it gets the job done, and to some mags get the job done better then others. Just way too many people get bent out of shape when they have friends, local shop, some company talking badly about their precious mag... eek cut ya wining you know you have the best marker!!!

AKA is a business, like any other, and they need to make money, like any other.

Selling automag upgrades is not profitable. Due to the automag's simple and refined design it is hard to upgrade it too far beyond the few upgrades the AGD already offers. No one else is willing to invest in the automag as much as AGD is willing to, so no one else makes aftermarket parts that can compete.

Cockers, angels, impulses, blowbacks, etc. all have lots of aftermarket parts and are easier for companies to make parts for because of the complexities of these markers which make them far more customizable, at the price of having to pay for the upgrades.

AKA cannot make "low pressure" parts for the automag, the design would have to be changed too significantly. Either change the whole valve or none of it, basically...there's no room for minor upgrades to internals as there is with other markers. And an entirely new valve would take too much r&d time as well as money.

Thus AKA cannot sell any aftermarket mag parts, and must advertise against the mag to make more money. AKA cannot make money off of mag users, so they must discourage people from purchasing mags. This is marketing, not ignorance.
