Freak barrels are longer than they say they are

I got a 12 inch freak a few days ago and i measured the complete thing with a tape measure and it is 15 inches from front to back. Even if i cut off the inch or so for the breach hole it's still about 14 inches.

It like that on all freaks for different guns?

I'm kinda disappointed actually I don't like playing with monster barrels.

well, try this one when you have some time to kill. Take a caliper, and measure the inserts. Most likely, they are off, and not what is printed on the insert.

We been reporting the fact that freaks end up over all longer for almost a year and half now. It has to do with the use of the same tips for every marker on the longer base of the one to make for the Mag. And there realy is no standard thing in barrels anyway but these end up about an inch and a half longer than you expected. There are many threads on this and even some comparison picts and measurements...

And the inserts are pretty darn close if you know exactly where to measure them and its not at the lip its internal about an inch or so from the marker end of them...

the exact same thing happened to me. I ordered a 12in freak and the barrel all together is like 15in

I know what you mean. When I put on the freak barrel on my Minimag, I feel like the Joker in the original Batman movie pulling out a gun with a damn long barrel. It's almost that ridiculous.

I had read on AO somewhere that the mag backs add about 1.5 inches. I got the 10" tip and it assembled my freak is about .5" short of 12", compared to my 12" CP.
