        There is something like 12 hours of machine time into that body. He couldn't make one cheap enough that any one would buy it. As someone pointed out, it'll run ya $20k for the body.
        I suppose it's because i'm just back from a few day's of
        changing spindle and ballscrew bearings on a few CNC machines.

        But I must point out that most shops around here (Canada)
        charge $40~60/hr for cnc machining center time, or $480~720
        for 12 hours
        Of course the $60/hr machines are high speed machines that
        would take significantly less than 12 hours.

        at todays exchange rate $100US = $158Canadian

        that is a long long long way from $20 000.

            It' Manike's and Bill's design not mine, so I wouldn't be able to do it anyhow. (unless Manike were to email me the toolpath )

            Just out of curiousity, Manike how long does your software
            say that a Mori Seiki SH-503 with 12K spindle but without RISK processor take for your design.

              Steve: He was also counting the time it took for him to render the design. He's got lots of hours into it.

                  22 hours is the number that I've seen being thrown around, and as for the $20,000 figure... Guys, this is, as far as I can see, Manike's reward to himself for the awesome job he did on the Extreme. If it was going to be the Manike Signature Series (now there's an idea ) or something like that then sure, it would cost a lot less. $20,000 is the number that would ease the pain of knowing that there was someone besides him and Bill playing with these, so I wouldn't anticipate being sent the toolpath.

                    Any word from Manike on maybe just a SMALL run of these? They look awesome, and I'd prefer them over even the C&C milling! Either way, you did a great job Manike!

                        manike, make 2 or 2000, you're still god

                        Sam thinks once you finish those 2 you should get cracking on something even better.....so MAYBE just maybe in a year the original Manike-mag wouldnt be at the top of the heap and you could sell the code to someone else

                          Oh, by the way, and insight on what the grip frame is gonna be like on the Manike-mag?

                          Is it just gonna be lighter, or different looking too?

                              The Grip frame has been seen already, it's the one with a finger cut out below the bottom of the double trigger, with front finger grooves and even more cut off the back strap of the frame. It does look different and is again just a little bit lighter. At the moment I'm guessing (sice we didn't manage to get it finished in time for the WC) but with the aluminium valve and all the machining the gun may end up being nearly a whole lb lighter than the standard extreme.

                              So far known weight savings are.

                              Valve = 3oz
                              Body = 6oz

                              Also to come are

                              battery pack = ?
                              grip frame = ?
                              module = ?

                              Thanks for the compliments.

                                wow that's light! Are you working on the battery pack, grip, and other stuff right now? or are you completely finished?
