    Paint Quality?

Looking around at the local pb store, I noticed the boxes of paint had different grades. Tourney, Premium, Pro, etc. Could someone tell me the grades and differences between them? I would believe that some have a harder or softer shell, differences in fill thickness, etc., but don't know what is what.

    Thanks in advance,
    Charles

Is this printed on the package or slapped on by the store? Premium is good paint, like PMI premiums, diablo blaze and midnight.....just good paint.

"tourney paint" is usually brittle shelled, with a thicker fill, and more consistant.

Never heard of a pro class of paint...unless they were trying to hype their tourney paint as the best.

sadly, there is no set "grading" system in the world of paintballs.

individual manufacturers tend to call their more brittle paints "tournament", which as mossman said are often thick filled (to prevent wiping). Almost any title given to a product in a particular brand is just marketing fluff. usually as the price of products in a brand (diablo midnight vs diablo hellfire) goes up, the consistency (size, shape, fill) of the balls in the batch gets better.

One of the few terms that is universal is "seconds", these are balls that are marginally below the quality level of there big brothers with higher price tags, ie: a bit older stock, slightly outside spec in diameter, mild dimples, ... for rec ball, i have no problem shooting seconds, and it saves me a bundle (i get them as low at $22 a case, i think they are $35 to the public).

damn... could I get seconds at $22 a case? Cause I'ld have no problem buying a few cases... 3 cases is equal to 1 case of my normal paint! .... I don't care if it shoots a little bit more poor. cause I can inplace the 1 case 1 kill rule! lol.....

my paintball store sells proball seconds at $49 a case...
I think that sucks for seconds... where can I get good cheep seconds????

        thanks ..

you have to have the hookup at a field to get seconds for $20

as the manager of a field, only a few peple get wholesale and those i put on locks to agree they will NOT give out wholesale pricing. it not only hurts my field, it will hurt any field where poeple know that paint costs X and the field is selling it for $50 more. no good. i do my best here to help out those who need info but without revealing my wholesale costs.

anyways, the way you go about getting cheap paint is to ref at thre field. most of our refs are on "paint deals" which means they work our games and we give them diso****s on paint/free paint

I'm not talking about Field Paint... I don't know any fields that sell seconds....

I have fields were my team can practice ($10 all day fee field fee/air) and then bring your own paint.

that's what I want... I want to be able to practice, and go through 3 cases. Cause you know (your on a team) that if you don't shoot paint, then you lose. I don't care if your playing 3 or 10 man, if there isn't paint in the air your not going to win.. and paint (unless you got the "hook up") cost way to damn much! I know people get seconds at $15-$25 a case... I just want to know where and how... maybe if I talk to my dealer.. cause he doesn't make money on the feild... he makes it in the store.

$10 all day air/field fee then $5+ from what he sells paint in the store. (that's all the prices) $5 if you bring your own paint... unless your having practice or are buddy, buddy with him... ;-)

so you can play all day, shoot a case and check out for under $60.. .
