Tri stacked tube trend, whats up with that?

Well, i have noticed a small trend, not a big trend, but an important one.

More and more high class markers are becomming a tri stacked tube shape. Im talking AKA excalibur, Angel, and the MAtrix.

HAve any of these markers proved any Advantage of this design? was it just style copying? just needed a good place to put stuff? whats up with that? can any one gove me a clue?

    I see it as a retro-fad...
My top-tube PG's (yes, PG, not PGP, you have to pull the bolt to cock it, no pump) are tri-tube stacked. :)

I think it has to do with ease of engineering more than anything else.

Well, the Matrix, Angel, Excal are all different designs internally. It works out to be a neat shape, a triangle is prettier than a square. The Angel is actually a pair of tubes, used for the hammer/valve, and the upper one with the bolt. The 3rd tube is used for the battery/lpr. It can be located else where. Example: Bushmaster/Impulse

The Excal is from what I precieve, a stacked tube similar to a shocker. But arranged like an angel. Ram/bolt in top, ram/hammer/valve bottom. The 3rd is, Im guessing a battery and/or lpr. My example: Shocker

Matrix is totally unique, and I still dont understand how it works. lol

The above two guns, both originate from 2 stacked tubes, but use another one to 'house and make more efficient use of space.

If Im wrong, please correct me on any thing. Ill correct this post.

Good to know that somone of Tom's status seeks "relief" from a sport he helped create. A sport now ruled by a single patent.

          Timmy...

I own (a now infamous) Viking and a classic Timmy. The thing I've noticed is that the tri-stack Viking is "fatter" due to the triangular shape and not as pleasent/easy to sight down due to the extra width. Some people my not notice it at all. I happen to and am not crazy about it although it is basically a nit-pic.

Actualy the excalibur, dosn't run a battery in the body(as stated above)

The stack works in this order, From behind

            Top tube- Barrel and bolt
Left tube- Valve/hammer and hammer ram
Right tube- Bolt ram, and LPR

The 2 celuniods sit above the frame on there side, in a tray as dose the circute board.

The battery sits in the grip frame.

            Hope this all helps.

Catch you all in the middle.

And the Matrix isn't a tri-tube design, it's a 2 tube design, with very different tubes (bottom tube is rectangular and much smaller than teh top tube).
