    barrel polish?

I have an all american (old style) but due to confusion it's black, not silver like i wanted, the shop couldn't get silver in. I'm taking a machining class at school, and what i'm wondering is i were to just slap her on a lathe, scrape the finish off (only like 2 thousandths) and polish her up, that would work to get my silver finish, however, does any 1 think it would mess up the porting?

You'd be better of using Drano, I heard it remove annodizing fairly well. I'd get some rubber gloves and an old rag. Dab a little on the rag and rub the anno off the outside of the barrel. I would leave the inside of the barrle anno'd as it's harder than non-anno'd aluminum, just in case any dirt gets in it :)

Your way would work too but it's possible the ports may get spoofed a little.

yes draino crystals or lye (sodium hydroxide) will take the finish off the barrel so you can polish it up. But please be careful NOT to get it on the inside of the barrel because sodium hydroxide eat aluminium, and will mess up the ID and smoothness of the inside of the barrel.
