    How to lighten Automag/EMag/RT

To lighten any of the AGD markers, why not drill out the mainbody tube? Something like the Minimag or RT front end extended the whole length of the body. As long as there is enough metal left to support the barrel, holes wouldn't affect the operation of the marker in any way.

Might make for an odd looking marker though.

The body really doesn't add too much weight to the gun... I think a task like that would not only be too risky, but the amount of metal taken out would be too small to really make a difference. For me the main weight (without a tank) is the valve. This can be solved by going ReTro.

i sent my mag to agd. just the gun no barrel or tank. i have done mods to my body rail and i still find the gun is heavy... i do have a classic valve. im wondering how muhc lighter is a retro valve.

seems this weiged 3.9 lbs! thats without warp hopper tank dropforward and paint. i dont know why but i want my gun lighter!

Well by the pics, I'd say you carved the rail but what about the internals of the rail? The ULE rail looks the same as the regular e-mag rails, I believe , but is heavily hollowed out on the inside. I believe it was cphillip who put up pictures of a blue ULE rail. I had a chance to buy one but since it was being sold as a bare metal piece, I decided not to. But I still enjoy my new E-mag body rail anyway

well thats a good idea but can u find a place where i can take a chunk out in the center? the only place i saw i could take off was the back as it seems to serve no purpose except keep halves from untwisting when lowering velocity which isnt a problem for me.

Is it only NEW RT valves that are lighter or have RT valves always been lighter. Is my ReTro Valve in my Micromag 2k RT the "light version" of the ReTro valve..or are they all light? (well, lighter than the cliass AIR valve)?

I think all ReTro's would be lighter than a level 7 valve, since half of it is aluminum instead of all stainless steel...

well 3 things would add that weight. a classic comes with a gripframe from carbon fiber, lighter than the aluminum intelli fram i got on now. also my forgrip and vertical adapter are added so:

                      stock classic mag: 2.5 lbs

                      My mag: 3.9 lbs

                      2.5 lbs(stockmag)
                      -.3lbs (milled off rail)
                      ---------------
                      2.2 (guess)
                      +1.00(intelliframe)
                      -.3 (losing the stock frame)
                      ---------------
                      2.9
+1 lb for vert adapter and forgrip?
                      ---------------
3.9 lbs does this sound right?

i want to get a retro valve but i dont want to spend 200 just to lighten my gun. i shoot fast now and dont really need a retro. wonder if tom will trade my heavy SS for a nice aluminum, id add some cash of course i just want lighter!

honestly....my E doesn't feel heavy to me at all...but I've played with it for a while now..it's not that the E is so heavy...it's the fact that the other markers are so light..

I can deal with weight fairly well, but I'm having a micromag shipped to me. If I like it well enough, I'll use it. If not, you'll probably see it on the boards!
