    Tank question

    Here it goes...

I've got a PE 68/4500. The highest I've gotten it to fill at is 4200-4300psi. No big deal. The thing is, within ~4 hours, it drops to 3800...
BTW, it IS NOT connected to my marker.

    Question time.

    What would cause this?
Is there anything I can do to fix it?

    Thanks guys!

      I'll try that.

First time I got it filled, the guy said he could only get it to 3800(I wasn't there, got my dad to do it. I was out of town). Didn't think much of it.

On hindsight, that would kind of make sense, seeing as how it stopped dropping @ 3800.

You got what's called a hot fill. The hotter the gas is, the more it expands, putting pressure on the reg. It reads the pressure. When the tank cools, the pressure inside drops somewhat and you don't have as much air inside as you thought.

Fill slower, or in slower bursts. Or if you can work it, a few hundred psi over (not going to kill the reg or anything) and it'll drop down closer to where it should be after cooling.
