a serious question bout indoor play

boston paintball is opening a new indoor place that is going to be amazing, indoor sup air. i was wiring the firealarm and asked them what they were doing for the floor, and they said industrial carpeting. one of the guys i work with worked it out with the fellas from boston paintball, that we will have an offie party and all the guys in the shop will play. i cant wait to mow them all down. my question is has anyone played on this? what is the best thing to wear if you can slid at all? good? bad? anything to tip me off. thank you

The stuff at newyorkpaintballarena.com was nice. It was suppose to be the rug that was used at skyball or something.

something smoothe would be a best bet. that would allow you to lower your drag.

If you don't mind possibly ripping them, plastic pants would be nice. Nothing that will "stick" to the carpet.

Well, problem with a slick surface is when paint breaks on it, the surface becomes slippery which would lead to sprained ankles, various busted body parts and possibly broken limbs. Not good. Astro turf maybe or maybe that plastic grass stuff like they sell at Lowe's and Home Depot. Thing is I dont think I've ever seen a surface made just for indoor paintball.

Paintball is just tag at 300fps!

I would love to see sports turf

The same stuff that the Lions play on. The sand filled long pile astro turf. The problem would be cleaning, there would have to be drainage and just hose it down, but is that legal to hose the paint into a storm sewer?

I palyed Skyball 2001, and they used a low pile industrial grade carpet. There was no problem on break out and it was real good for sliding into your bunker. However, if you played on it all the time, the paint will eventually soak into the carpet and become rather slick, then you will be sliding into everything. New carpet- good. Old, paint soaked carpet- bad. I actually liked playing on the carpet, you good traction and you still slide with relative ease. Keep in mind, when I played skyball, it was a two day deal, with average 2min games, on new carpet.

I thought the Somerville complex was supposed to open in the early summer of this year(2002)? Anyway. After you go kingpin let us know, I brought up the idea of holding another AO NE day there this winter and people seemed to like the idea so let us know of the costs/etc.
