    Where to buy loctite?

Anyone know where to buy some loctite? Preferably those small one time use bottles--I dont want to pay 28 bucks for a 10mL one. Strangely the local shop doesnt sell them. I dont want to buy online either and pay more for shipping than for the loctite itself.

Automotive parts stores also carry loctite. If you are looking for the loctite 545 sealer, you might have a harder time finding it.

Grainger sells it. Find someone with a business account, they don't usually sell to individuals.

It took me all afternoon running from place to place, but I finally found a local outlet that has the new 243 in stock (in itty bitty little tubes).

You shouldn't use 243 on a paintball gun. Use 545 whenever possible.

                  Thordic,

I'm not an authority on the subject matter, but Warpig seems to think that you might be wrong. They recommend the Loctite 243 for paintball applications.

                  Check here for more info:
                  Warpig on Loctite

I'm sure this will help someone.

Loctite 243 is a medium strength threadlocker. It has no pressure rating.

Loctite 545 is a medium strength high pressure pneumatic sealant rated to seal threads up to 10,000 PSI.

In paintball, you are looking to seal a pneumatic system at high pressures up to 3,000 PSI.

545 is also generally easier to remove.

If you read that article, he is talking about locking screws. I assumed this thread was about air fittings. Air fittings are a totally different situation than screws. If you are using loctite on screws, then by all means use 243. But for air fittings of any type, 545 is superior.

10-4 good buddy. I didn't know what exactly we were talking about with the loctite either. The new 243 seems easier to deal with around oily stuff. It's also damn pricey at $2 for a tiny little capsule of it.

I'd also recommend 545 for any air fittings.

All loctite is pricey I have a 50mL bottle of 545 that cost me like $30 or so. It's lasted through numerous air fittings, plus two potato guns, and still has tons left.

Its expensive, but you use very little, so it goes a long way.

Thanks for clarifying that Thordic. The article made no reference to 545 so I had no idea what it was for. Now I know what I need to add to my airsmith kit.

                            Here's a deal on 545:
                            http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...782889999&rd=1

This particular item sold but the seller told me he has like 9 bottles lying around.

That's a good deal, if you don't have any, I'd email that seller and buy a bottle.
