    The original Automag...

    ...was a .44 cal, semi-automatic handgun. The picture posted is correct - that is what the gun looked like. They are rare and very much a collector's item now. It actually used proprietary cartridge called the .44 Automag or .44 AMP - a rimless cartridge slightly larger in diameter then a regular .44 mag.

    AMT also made a pistol called the Automag - but the quality was nowhere near the same as the originals. The original Automag (the one in the picture) was the same model in the Dirty Harry movie.
