Well, i live in wyoming and its wintertime, as it is 8 months out of the year on average. The other donwside is the lack of N2 filling places. There isnt one, yet.
I've always been disapointed in my mag on co2, until today.
In the past ive used a what i though was anti siphon co2 tank, a 6 stage exp chamber and little hand warmers so my hands dont freeze touching the exp chamber. Well i was determined in the past 2 weeks to make my mag work on co2 in the cold without spending any money. First i did a test to see of it was a antisyphon tank, and it was not. I then got rid of the dropzone and the expansion chamber as a remote was not a option for me. I found the verticle bottle to be alot more comfortable and managible then other guns ive tried it on(12oz). I then bought a good oil at the hardware store that resists extreme temps. Then i replaced all the orings in the gun and the reg seat. Finally i optimized my hacked grip frame after i relized a "full" triggerpull was not happening. I found i had nothing to do today so i got a 20 oz filled, and a 12 oz filled with my freind that owns a classic timmy.
Back at my house we went outside into the snow and started firing. In the past i have not been able to fire more then 30-40 times in under 50 degree weather without a full cease in all function of the gun. This time it kept firing, 100 shots then 200, then 300, then i just lost count and kept firing through a entire 12 oz, rapid fire, outside in the snow in 20 degree weather. I grabbed the 20 oz, gassed up again and this time tried to shoot paint outside over my chrono. It shot +-2 with a small spike here and there, i shot a full hopper like this, without any problems. Amazed i decided to leave the gun propped on a bench, gassed up, in the now 18 degree weather. I left it there for 30 or so minutes as i watched the Penn state football game on Tv infront of my warm fireplace. Went outside and found it covered in 1/2 inch of snow and the gun was freezing, but it still shot, perfectly. After a few hundred more dryfires my freind wanted to shoot his timmy, which also did great in the frigid temperatures, his reg had a nice thick sheet of solid ice on it before the co2 was all gone.
I have completely changed my views of mags on co2 and appoligize to Tom/AGD for saying mags arnt that great on co2.
If i can run that here, anyone can run it where they live.
I am making a video tomorrow.
TY AO for helping me get my mag to run on Co2.
