    is this cheating?

this has been on my mind for a while. i despise cheating, and i wont tolerate it in anything i do, and i'm hoping im not a hippocrite. well, this is how it went:

im playing woodsball, and im going for my trademark flanking move that almost always wins the game for my team. im across this marsh, and im with a 1st time player. the rest of the action is across the marsh and we are fairly far away, trying to get to the side/behind the other team. they find us and start laying down heavy fire. im behind minimal cover, a thorn bush, actually. i feel a tap, like someone flicked my leg, and i look, and theres a splat. i figure it's a ricochet, which are common in the woods. then i feel a hit on my shoulder, but it doesnt break. i go on, and i take someone out. my team wins.
i check my leg after the game, and i find a cut there, not a welt. i figure, hey, its from the thorn bush that i was practically lying down in.

my question is, did i cheat in that game? i didnt wipe, it was still there because everyone pointed it out and asked me to pull up my pants to check for a welt (a cut was there, remember?).

EDIT: you guys are saying it hit me, and i know, but to clear it up, there was no welt, and, when we play in the woods, we play it like war (you might think its bad). and bullets dont ricochet, so ricochets don't count

was the splat bigger than a nickel? if so then you cheated in my book. anyway a ball, even ricocheted, is still a ball. This isn't dodge ball we're playing...it's paintball!

If the splat was bigger then a dime I personally would have called myself out. Then again I have called out after my mask got hit (you know the sound) just to make it to the staging area to find no paint, but hace played on after my hopper was hit and did not know.

          and stuff

          *edit
sometimes we play with medic/wound rules
leg hits below the knees or arm hits below the elbows are wounds (2 wounds and you are out)
Paintball is a game and ment to be fun...... when it stops being fun it is time to stop

if the splat on your leg was smaller than a quarter(or as defined at your field--most fields do a quarter) then you didnt cheat at all. if the one on your shoulder did NOT break and you had a cut on your leg(not from a paintball)and the splatter was less than a quarter: i dont see any way you DID cheat!

Bullets DO Ricochet. Been hit twice in the leg with ricocheting pistol ammo at a firing range.

                          Ok you did ask........

                          and bullets dont ricochet
Bullets DO ricochet and they will kill you.

                          there was no welt
Not all hits cause welts. A hit is a hit regardless of weather or not it leaves a mark on the skin.

. i feel a tap, like someone flicked my leg, and i look, and theres a splat.
You felt an impact, looked down, saw paint, your OUT!

                          i didnt wipe
Just because you didn't wipe it off doesn't change any thing, you knew it was there.

A note on ricocheting, I don't know how many times I've made an elimination by PURPOSELY bouncing a paintball under a bunker, did the hit count? YES.

Just because we think the hit counted doesn't mark you as a cheater. Just don't do it again and will forgive you! And, you should change the ricochet rule. Like I said a hit is a hit. If you want special rules regarding hits you should have a Medic on the field............

If you felt the hit and upon looking to verify the break, you saw it had broken, then you were out and obligated to call yourself out. Thats a verifiable hit and to not call yourself out is playing on. If you were in doubt as to the size of the break being enough to eliminate you then you can call for a paint check. And cease all agressive movement until that can be done. Thats your only option. So yes to play on with a verifyable hit is cheating.

This ricochet thing is bogus! 9 times out of 10 when a bounced ball hits you you will not be able to tell if it was direct or a ricochet. I've never seen a rule like that in any type of play, including scenarios.

Sounds like and excuse to play on.
