    chrome plating on mags

I was wondering if it is possible to get your mag body chrome plated. If so, how about the body rail and vertical adapter (if you don't plan on running air through it). I was wondering if it works, if it looks nice, and what it might cost.

    Thanks

you get about the same effect if you polish it. and that shouldnt cost you more than about 10-15 bucks

Chrome plating will cost you a buttload. Polishing and nickel is the way to go. And remember, there's NO SUCH THING as too much chrome.

I agree ... if done correctly then it comes out just kick *** looking ... and everyone knows a Mag is reliable and a great marker, so you get the best of both worlds.

Here's a current pic of my mag ... I'm replacing the grip/etc with a Nikle Intelliframe next week so it'll look even nicer ...

well, ive self polished my mag body but it isn't even near the shine i want. i want it to match the polish of my chrome frame

(and i spent a long time working on it, it came from a flat grey)

You can put a mirror finish on SS and it wont chip like a plating can just put some elbo grease into that polish. I polished mine.

damn, what types of sandpaper should i use? and definately a wet-sand or does a dry-sand result in a better shine? i really want my body to glow

I used 150 then 400 then 600 then 1000wet. This will give you shine but if you want that "glow" you need to use a polishing/buffing wheel with a "cutting" compound then a "coloring" compound to finish it up. Take your time, its hard work but realy worth it.
