To be honest i have never been through any physical thing like surgery, broken bones, etc.

But i do know back home i have seen guys play damn well with knee braces on, hell he might come out of surgery fine.

Best of luck ... hopefully his surgery will be as successful as mine.

When I was 13 I tore my ACL (probably the worst ligament to tear in your knee) and I had to have it reconstructed and a tendon grafted into it to replace the damaged ACL ...(for those of you who dont know the ACL controls your left/right stability of your knee, without it you buckle if you stumble).

Well its now 7yrs since surgery ... and I still play sports for fun and I play Paintballing pretty intensily without a leg brace or any type of brace object. IF he does have to wear a brace talk to your doctor about a form fitting DONJOY brace, they are custom made for your leg and they are what professional athletes use ... I have had 5 of them (i didn't have surgery for 2yrs after i tore it) and they are amazingly light and durable ....

I also had an ACL reconstruction. 3 1/2 years ago. Physically, I was going full-speed again after 9 months. TO be perfectly honest though, most people won't be able to do that. At the time, I was involved in both football and wrestling, so I had lots of extra "work-out" time.

Either way, the best advice I can give him, is to bust his arse during therapy & DON'T DO ANYHTING STUPID!!

If he feels he needs a brace later on, then make sure you get a Donjoy. They custom fit them to your leg and they work wonders.

good luck, nothing will go wrong, there has been several surgerys in my family in the past month, and nothing has gone wrong throughout any of them.
