Is It Wrong To Mill Your Battery Pack?

So here I am looking at my buds cut down pack from his X-Mag thinking to myself...

[me] self, you can do that. How hard can it be?[/me]

So here I am tonight with a drill, hacksaw, jigsaw and a bunch of sandpaper cutting and sanding. I managed to keep the lines somewhat straight and also ended up with lighter, thinner pack. Noticeably thinner. The pictures are ok but its really hard to describe the way it feels. Its a LOT more comfortable for some reason, like I say its hard to describe. On the X-Mag the top of the pack looks weird being that it stops really in the middle of nowhere. So another thing I did was sand down the flat edge on the top so that it tapers off.

This was a backup pack so unless you want to play I don't recommend it but, it was really pretty simple.

    Factory pack first

Thanks, I bought it used like that. It looks like someone took a dremel to it so they could carve in their intials. They dug in pretty deep and managed to make a D but thank the Lord they stopped there. It is an actual hole at its deepest point.

Thats actually really nice. I think that you should use some finer sand paper though, and make it nice and smooth!

Thanks! Its not done by any means. It was actually still hot when I was taking these pics. It will get some finer paper and some time on the polisher before I am done with it.

You'll want to start with about a 200 grit sandpaper and work your way up too about a 1000 grit, in 50 - 100 grit steps. Wet sand paper is better than dry. If you search for CPU Heatsink Lapping you find some really good information on achieving a mirror finish. Hope this information helps.

where did you get the pack with the "D" carved in it.

i started to mill that into an old backup bat pack, screwed it up bad and stoped.

then sold it with my old emag.

i think you ended up with it.

from the judge in the WDP v Sp case.... " i find it significant that aside from a somewhat limited notebook produced by gaston, the four named inventors offer NO documentation of there work or there contributions to the conception or reduction to practice of the claimed invention"

First off thanks for all the suggestions and comments!

Data this pack came from Goose.

Magman I would really rather not do this for someone else. I would feel uncomfortable doing it and then having it come out looking like crap. Let me think about it and see how this one turns out and then I will talk to you about it. What about Tyson? He has far better skills then I will ever have. Either way I will let you know.
