What's going on with AO... 2026 Edition

AO: Happy new year! I can't believe it was 2013 when I helped put some new paint on this site. It has been 13 years. It is crazy to see the evolution of social media and artificial intelligence take over the internet. I'm currently working on getting AO to a modern standard since we fell so far outside our update/patching. I finally got to 5.7.2, but we are still operating with depreciated software. Vbulletin 6.1 is the new standard, but I needed to do a few updates to get to that level.

I'm currently using this post to test to see if writing to the database works. We will use this post to track and keep folks updated. My goal is to tighen up security, fix the regristration process for new users, and fix the notification (email system) that doesn't work.

I look forward to revisited AO and improving it. I haven't been around as much, but I'm happy to help continue our community.

• Fix Mailer to send out notifications and password resets.
• Continue to tweak the standard template. After, I will create a dark template as well.
• Fix our SEO for Google. After the attacks, our pages dropped from search.

I tried to send Bunny a message, said I had to many messages stored, said I was over the limit.
Tried to delete all my private messages and it wouldn't let me.
Tried to upload pictures and got an error. Tried the picture button on the edit tab, tried sending to server, tried to upload to server, all failed with the same error.

EDIT:
I actually got that same error yesterday when I posted this, didn't know until this morning it actually posted.
Also tried to post a new topic with pictures (this morning) and got the error message, but it didn't post.

Hey, checking in now. Unfortunately, error 500 is some generic error code so I will have to look into it a bit further. (Testing if this post gets submitted..)

Planned outage on 5/14/2026. I will be working with hosting company to move to a new server. Automags.org will be placed in read-only on 5/14/2026 at 7:00EST. After, I will be installing the latest and greatest version of our software. It will take a little bit of time so I apologize for the outage. I'm hoping that we can finally tackle our major issues with the site. - Bunny
