polishing my mag

i am gonna polish my mag and i need some info, i did a search and couldnt find what i need so i'm gonna ask.

what grit should i start with? i remember somebody saying sand in one direction only, does that matter? what grit should i end with? whats a good polish?


also, i get some oil at true value and i am wondering if it is paintball gun safe, it is synthetic-based with PTFE. will it be safe for my mag? thanks.
