I am the sponsor of the paintball club at the school I teach at, I can tell you it's all about how you word things!! Make sure you emphasize safety and responsibility, and academic qualification of team members, a good phrase would be "will comply to all safety standards set forth by the school district and paintball industry", and make sure you refer to paintball as a sport every time you mention it, ie:"the exciting sport of paintball"!! Hope this helps!!Last edited by toymyster; 12-04-2002, 11:06 PM.E-Mag's on a diet

I could be wrong in saying this but you should emphasize how different they're(the school staff) interpretation of paintball is compared to what we all know it is. I.E, the "sportish" type of paintball involves a measured field with referees and such, while what they may concieve(woodsball/renegadeball) is exactly the opposite. You should also push to get a field set-up for practices and inter-school tournaments(tell them the tourneys can help raise money for the school). By building/having your own field you end up paying less in the long run because you don't have to pay/schedule for a privately owned field. Good luck, let us know if it works out.
P.S.
Make sure they know that girls are just as likely to want to play too. It's not a male-dominated sport anymore.

my advice would be to post it here before you turn it in. That way we can pick apart some things we don't like instead of just blindly suggesting ideas...Hey Zero, how much did that Chipley cost ya?

Oh ya thanks man. I did use the term "dead box" and didnt think that shouild go there, but I couldnt think of another term, thanks. And also thanks for showing me to use "tagging them out" and "marking"Originally posted by Xerces
yea, steer clear of words like guns(markers), shooting(marking or tagging), dead box(safe zone), killing (tagging them out) ive heard people talk about how amny 'kills' they got in a game. be as PC as you can.
Thanks man, I will let you guys know how it goes. I am trying to finish this by Monday, so I can turn it in Monday. Thats a good idea, telling them its a female sport too, thanks for sharing that.Originally posted by Remington

And I probably could make a field, as we have a practice football field, we could probable use that and use wood or that construction pipes for a field.

i would say something along the lines ofOriginally posted by CRog075
Paintball is a combination of the childhood games "tag" and "hide & seek," but is much more challenging and sophisticated.
'Paintball incorporates childhood games such as tag and hide & seek, but on a larger scale. it also contains more obstacles and challenges provided by the terrain and some strategically placed by the creator of the fields, such as bunkers.'
just a suggestion. overall it looks goodComment

I would try not to abbreviate words like middle and try not to use etc., but instead end the sentence with a period. Another subject you could talk about is the fact that quite a few colleges now have teams/clubs and there is even a National Collegiate Paintball Association(NCPA) dedicated to collegiate paintball(as well as at the high school level). I'm not sure how good you are with computers but in addition to turning in this paper you might want to consider doing a PowerPoint presentation. If you do, go in there feeling utterly confident that you will completely blow their socks off. Also, try and get some parents involved; in other words try and get a parent or parents to go in with you and tell the school staff about what they have seen as commonplace in the world of paintball. If you can get a parent that actually plays, all the better. Anyway, I'm digressing. Just remember to dot those I's and cross those T' and you should do fine.
P.S.
If they end up not allowing a team, then it probably just wasn't meant to be. But somehow, I think you'll get it passed. Just reaaaaaally emphasize on how safe paintball is, that's all they really want to hear(besides having a high demand for participation in(on) the team.Comment
