seeing as how i may be moving to your neck of the woods in the spring, thanks for the link.

how many (decent or better) fields are within, say 45-60 minutes of pensacola? and honestly, how unbearably hot does it get down there in the summer?

Very very very very miserable in the summer. 95-100 with 100% humidity. It sucks!

how long does it usually last? i'm used to 90-95 with high humidity for a month or so at a time.

Late spring to early fall. Best time to play is at the night, my local field has night lights, so we can play. Winter is the better time to play because it peaks in the mid 50's to low 60's most of the time and that is perfect.
But if you can cope with the hot summers here, you can deal with about anything weather wise, including hurricanes .

Big weather difference from detroit I am affraid. We have 2 seasons. Summer and summers comming. There is a really nice beach here and great fishing in the gulf.
