Minimag question

Hello, I have a minimag and I believe it has a rare color job done. I dont thinkit is annodized because it has steel and you cant anno steel right? Well, i believe thats the case. Its red on the main body of the gun. Is this rare, or is it just a regular anno job?

No, thats not the color of mine. Yours looks flat like its been powder coated. Mine isnt powder coated. Its shiny like a anno job, but as far as I knew you couldnt anno steel, which is what the powerfeed of a minimag is...right?? I mean, I was just curious and this isnt anything like what my gun looks like.

The body tube, powerfeed, and valve are all stainless steel. You are correct, only aluminum can be anodized. If you have a red body, then it was painted by it's previous owner.

Minimags came in flat grey, polished/chrome, and black Teflon.

Yes, my entire gun was powdercoated, but it's certainly not a flat finish as you can see the shine on many parts. BTW: powdercoating is the best for your gun, should you want to color it. It's very tough, chemical resistant, and is available in any color or combo you can imagine.

Is that a sight rail, or actually a part of the body tube?

Well, even if it is the site rail, which I dont believe it is, the rest of the body that the handle is attached to is still the same color red.

I believe that is an annodized sight rail.... the other red parts are also annodized aluminum. I think.

IT looks like an AGD sight rail that either came factory that color, or had a very professional anno job snce they left the logo on.

Ok, so if its a site rail, is the rest of the red body thats there aluminum?? BecauseI thought that was steel as well?

I believe the rail wraps all the way around the tube, hiding the steel from eyesight. If you take out the valve, you should be able to see the ends of the rail and tube.

That's simply a stock red mainrail, PF Plug and AGD Sight Rail. All alum mag parts used to be avalible in a few colors. The main body on that is Chrome, that is still a standard option.

Yeah, its nothing to fancy, I have the same sight rail in grey. BTW you have yours on backwards. If you have the stock steelbraids on it, it will get scratched that way.
