68 or 45?

I will be playing front with my minimag and I want to know if a 68/4500 is too big or should I get a 45/4500? I plan on getting retro valve and level 10 right after christmas.

BTW- isn't there a pack with both level 10 and retro valve together?

The X-Valve which is coming out in a few weeks will be an aluminum retro valve with Level 10 pre-installed.

68/4500 is nearly the same size as a 47.... I use the 68 and I play upfront.

I'd get a fat 68 if I was getting a new tank. But go with whatever you want. I would never go under 68, though, simply for the shot count.

Well, a 47/4500 gets more shots than a 68/3000 so I think you mean that you wouldn't take anything other than a 4500. =)

if you're playing front, then see if there is some way you can try both of them, and see which one you run better with, and which one is easier to hold, and which one gets the most shots you will need.

I used to have a 47/3000 Flatline, now upgraded to 68. MY 47ci tank was steel, far heavier and more difficult to run with than the fiber-wrapped aluminum 68. I play front too.

Now, having said that, do they make the 47 in a fiber version, or are they all steel? I don't know.

If you can find a fiber wrapped 47, and you can live with the shot count, that would be the smallest/lightest way to go. I personally don't like to go below 68ci. With that I can shoot my hopper/warp, and 3 tubes I carry.

There is a difference between a 68/4500 & a 45/4500. I think its a noticeable size difference. I believe they're shorter and slimmer. With a long drop, you'll have almost no "stock" to prop up against your shoulder. I'd rather have a 68/4500 with a longer drop, if tightness is your thing. Plus filling a million times is annoying even if the air is near bye.

You need to answer a couple more questions.

1) Are you talking about playing tournaments?
2) How much paint do you normaly shoot per game.

If you are playing tournys you can get a fill after every game (as many do) so I'd go with as small a tank as you can get a way with. If you don't shoot any more than 600 per game then a 47/45 should be good. More than 600 and I'd go with the 68 just to be safe.

If you play mostly rec then I'd go with the bigger tank so you don't have to deal with getting a fill after each game.

A steel 45-48 is much larger than a fiber 45 (much, much larger)

For a tourny I would definatly prefer a fiber 45/4500, those things are tiny!

If I were you, I would go for something short and fat. Either a 68/30 stubby, or you can do what I did, and get a 72/45. It is shorter than the fiber 45 ci tanks, and it actually holds 76 ci, so it gets more shots than a 68 ci tank would get.

There are two problems though: It is so fat that it won't fit on some drops, that is only if they don't drop very much though. For instance, it doesn't fit on my friends Phyco Ballisics drop. The other problem is getting a tank cover for it.
