    New Boo-yaah/Mako frames

http://www.action-village.com/011-4020-362.html I guess these are the replacements for the ELCD frames. What does everyone think, should paintballers regain trust in them?

I am an old fashioned player, and believe in conventionl pulls, but I can say this. I am not fond of the multi colored frames as seen in Nov 01 Pball 2 xtremes

I'd like to give these things a try; as long as they don't Eat up sears/bolts like the hyper-frames supposedly do.

For 199.99, it's not a bad deal. Personally, I'd wait to pick one up on sale or something.

I was talking with thy guy in the PMI booth, and he said that what made Booyaah go under was the fact that their marketing department basically walked out on the manufacturer. I know that PMI has since contracted with the manufacturing company to produce frames for PMI and their Piranah line. With the level of quality I have seen in the Piranah, it would seem that they produce quality merchandice if PMI will put their name on what the company produces.

Hoever that doesn't exactly speak for the mag frames.

acutally I have a contact at Mako - I am going to call and see if I can get one for a review...

OK - I just got off the phone with Mako

the new grips are NOT out yet. Odds are action village is getting rid of the old booyaa frames.

They JUST started to ship the sypder/pirhana frames a few weeks ago. I am having a piranha sent to me for testing.

I am in line to get one for the automag when the finish the redesign. They hope to have a prototype there at world cup.

In talking with Mako, they actually MAKE these products and they seem that they want good quality products and happy customers. Of course centerflag wants that too - but both have had issues with mag frames (probably why tom did a total redesign instead of a slap on). So I will have a Mako one for testing when they are re-released, I will give you guys a sneak peak at it before I do a write up for APG.

                  Sweet Webbie.

Let us know how that goes. I've always wanted to get one of these, but in the back of my mind, I was always afraid that it would eat up my bolt, and screw everything up (Like in the warpig review)

But we'll have to see, now won't we

Wouldn't that be false advertising on paintballgerar.com's part? They say they are Mako and show a pic. of the new one. Anyways, thanks for the respond Steve.

                        On a related note...

We just received our Mako Storm demo for the Spyder, and all I can say is wow! Cycling through the various fire modes is quite intuitive, and the installation was simple. So far everyone who has shot the Spyder + Mako has been more than impressed. I can't wait to add a HALO to the mix

As I play around with the frame this weekend and into next week, I will have more info. Here's what I know so far:

5-15 bps in Full Auto mode
                        2-12 bps in Burst mode
                        Turbo mode available
                        Shot and Countdown Timer
                        Adjustable trigger pull (hex screw)

According to the manual, the Mako will get between 3000-8000 shots per 9-volt depending on the marker and user's playing style (the grip comes with a Duracell Ultra). Obviously, spare batteries are a must! Changing out the battery is easy though, just unscrew one of the grip frame panels to replace.

Another important note is the bottom-line screw length. Mako gives the same warning about using screws that are too long that can lead to damaging the electronics. Use screws that are less than 3/4" long.

My initial thoughts on cosmetics and comfort are positive. While not flashy by any means, the Mako is a nice looking grip with tasteful milling and a slightly better trigger guard than the old Boo-Yah version. The grip itself is squarish and not as comfortable as a .45 frame with DYE Stickies, but it doesn't detract from the frame's overall quality either. In other words, while holding it I wasn't thinking about molded-rubber grips - I was thinking about the insanely light trigger pull! That's it for now.

                        Sincerely,

                        Matt

I think the reason they work well with spyders/piranhas is that they only have to trip the sear. With a mag you have to push the on/off pin and then a fraction of a second after trip the sear. It also may have to do with tolerances, like the solenoid isn't reaching the on/off pin cause its to short.

                            My friend's Mako

my friend just bought one of these new Make grips for his spyder. he bought it from firstcallpaintball.com, they say that they are boo-yaahs and even show a boo-yaah in the pic but they sent a Mako. He really likes it, especially because the trigger is so short. i think 15bps is a little fast, mainly because his 12v Rev can't keep up w/ it. but overall is is very nice. he let me shoot it and i think turbo is the best mode IMHO.

Im really considering one of these now, its faster than the Centerflag and cheaper. But I guess you get what you pay for.
