I bet its locktited, I think you can soak it in hot water and it will help. Also, you can just take 2 pliers to each of the rods and use akk your might to get it undone :) They are supposed to easily unscrew.

yeah, if it's loc-tited, boil some water and soak it in it, until you can separate it. Have you tried our good friend WD-40?

Blowing..up..aerosole cans? Isn't there some rule about what you can openly admit? I think its directly related to the length of the long-pause-of-silence after the statement in question.

Reading that was very funny. I had to read it several times. Its was almost as if you were conducting some highly critical experiment, and it was perfectly natural. Ya know- blowing up aerosole cans....big deal:)

Well, most people, including the police in my area, dont really approve of my construction of home-made explosives.

The theme I get the most is fire....heat the ***** up and i should be able to seperate this piece of crap...the problem I'm finding is that I cant grip the thing with the pliers, any suggestions?

Tyler, can you elaborate on your solution for the nice people at home. (assuming it doesn't involve blowing stuff up). I'm actually about to replace my ram, so I can use the info.

Bah, those crazy North Caldwell cops... How I can get stopped on my bike at age 12 for, get this, speeding, boggles my mind.

I just realized that I have the same vice you bought at Sears, you shoulda just asked my dad!

Or you could have used a strap wrench, it worked on my old cocker.

If you've never taken that arm apart, and if its anything like mine, definitely invest in a nice vice. I stuggled with strap wrenches and pliers until I was out of breath and still didn't get the thing to budge, AT ALL!

So for $30 at Sear's Hardware I get a nice Vice that suctions to the table surface(saved me from drilling into my table). So I removed the arm from the marker, set the cylinder portion(what the ram screws into) in the vice and really cranked down on it. Then I grabbed a small craftsman strap wrench and just unscrewed it.

Certainly felt like an arse after struggling with it, boiling it, and holding a lighter to it. The whole thing took less than 15 seconds to do with the right tools.
