Interesting tidbit of info from DYE...

I called DYE tonight to find out what the deal was with their new 2-piece threaded Boomstick barrels. I was wondering if I could just buy a few different bore size backs so that I could use my DYE for all size paints. Obviously everybody has realized how valuable this idea is, and that's why it seems like everybody is coming out with them. The guy told me that Smart Parts has the patent on the idea and that they are issuing "Cease and Desist" orders to all companies that are offering the similar type barrels. He said that was why DYE wouldn't sell the backs separate. I would have to buy the entire barrel in different bore sizes. Sounded a little fishy to me. Is this true or is DYE just trying to squeeze more money out of their customers ?

Anybody out there in AO land use the J&J barrel kit (I think it's called the Edge ?). If so, how do you like it ?

the local store owner said that they wont sell the backs seperate, you have to buy the whole barrel.

yeh, i wouldnt count on it. SP i dont think could stop them from doing it. they dont have a patent on interchangeable breech barrel systems, otherwise CP, JJ, PowerLite and othesr wouldnt be in the market....so, i think tey COULD do it, but i dont think they want to

god i hate sp so much, we should really boycott them you know. i see no reason not to believe this, sp will sue everyone for everything.

Isn't that jumping to conclusions pretty quickly? We have no PROOF tha Smart Parts has done anything in this situation. I hardly think a DYE Employee, interested in not only selling more $$$ worth of his product but defaming his competition, would be a reputable source of such information!

Please, let's not jump on the 'Kill Smart Parts Bandwagon' over this issue just yet.
