    Filling your tank

My friends and I went out yesterday to play. We brought along a scuba tank that one of them has. When we went to fill our tanks we each only got 1000-1500psi.(We all have 3000psi tanks) He said you only get that much (3000psi) on the first fill and everything after is like 2500psi or below. Is there anyway to get a full tank fill everytime? Or will it always be this way? I have a Pure Energy 48/3000 tank. Thanks.

the best method short of getting a compressor or a booster is to use the cascade system

the cascade system works something like this: you have three or so tanks, you fill from the first one as much as you can then you go to the second and the third, this gives you a good sized fill from scubas.

What he means is that you have to have 3 scuba tanks, mark them as 1, 2 and 3. When you ar going to fil an empty 48cu tank, hookit up to the scuba 1, fill as much as you can, then move to scuba 2, and so on. This will help mantain a higher presure on the scuba 2,and 3, thus you wil be able to get higher presure fills, but it wil never get to 3k after the first fil.

that work desent w/ just 2 tanks? cause paying like 500 bucks for 3 scuba tanks and a fill sation, well for just you, that's alot of money and you're gonna have to play a while to get your money back, yes i know around here it costs 5 bucks to get a scuba tank filled, where to get the same amount of fills it would be like 30 bucks, but 150 bucks per tank, and 50 bucks for a fillstation adaptor thing...might be a heavy start up fee don't ya think?

the best way is to get like 3 tanks, but you don't need to. me and 4 of my friends bought one scuba tank, we fill it for $4, then we all get a full day of play out of it, about 3 fills each, and by the end of the day, the scuba tank is down to about 2000psi. If you want just a "cheap" solution, get a few friends together, and all buy it together. Much cheaper and in the long run your investment is paid off. I know it costs $3 to fill my 48/3k at my local pball store, so getting 3 fills a day for $1 ($4 for total tank split 4 ways) is saving $$ up the wazoo
You can run, but not @ 280 f.p.s.

yeh, if you dont want to shell out the extra money to setup a cascading system or a compressor or a 4500psi scuba tank...then theres nothing you can do to keep 3000psi fills all day long. you could keep it filling to 2k and then have the field top it off for a buck or so

NO matter what you do when you fill your tank up from the scuba, the pressure is ALWAYS going to drop! This is just plain logic; if you take some of the air out of a pressurized tank, it loses pressure, because less air is pushing out trying to escape. so, while a 2 cubic foot scuba tank sounds like a lot of air (and yes, it is) its just not as much as it sounds at first, because you dont keep getting 3000 psi fills, the pressure will go down every time.
