Any ideas on what a good way to transport PB stuff?

I go to college in NY and my rents live in TX. I have to fly back and forth. I am looking for some cheap way to safely transport a few markers too and from TX and NY, any ideas, other then spending 100bucks for something w/ a logo on it?

Go to Wal-Mart and get a hard rubbermaid or similar brand case. It will keep your gear safe from harm and hold a lot of stuff.

put them in between your clothes in your suitcase or something, that way they are padded nicely.

that sounds like a good way to get them confiscated at security..your best bet, is to get a good case(pelican?), and make sure it has plenty of spots for locks..

This works for sure and is cheap.

Here is a cheap way that works....get a CONTICO case from Walmart, KMart, etc for about $20 and a masterlock. Pack clothes in for padding and you will be fine. Several of us have used these on flights before.

De-gas your tanks before flying though and NO 12gram C02.

BTW - This is the case I am talking about. http://www.contico.com/l_1318.htm

in this day and age can you take paintball guns on planes? even if it was going to be in the backage deck, and not a carry on (duh) wouldn't it still be scanned and, well, it might be concieved as a gun through a baggage x-ray. Depending on your situation, you could always UPS all your equipment to and from NY and TX.

the best way to send paintball equipment back and forth is to use a carrier like fedex or ups to ship it. that is the recommended way, but can be expensive if you're a poor college student like me . when i travel (my family lives in hawaii; i'm going to school in ohio), i pack my equipment in between my clothes. that includes the tank. the tank must be empty! there is a prohibition on carrying compressed or dangerous gases on board planes. you cannot carry c02 cartridges. most airlines will allow you to carry the tank in your carry on as long as you can demonstrate that the tank is empty. consult the airline before flying. as for the marker, i put the marker in a small padded bag. you cannot lock your check in bag! the new security protocal at airports calls for every check in bag to be checked both physically and electronically. security personnel can open your bag at anytime to check its contents. therefore you cannot lock the your check in bag or any bag within that bag. i've had no trouble thus far with doing this; the only thing that happened was that when i opened my bag to get my sfl emag, i noticed that there was black powder on the marker (from checking to see if it was a bomb i believe ). if you don't trust the security personnel at the airport, i suggest mailing out your equipment.

                    aloha,

the best cheap case i have found is the mtm caseguard sportsman utility case from walmart $14.97 has a tray on top for a marker and a compartment under that can fit tools hopper and tank (unlessit is HUGE)It is sturdy. It is a big ugly olive green thing. I am not sure if I would trust it with airport baggage handlers or not but take a look. It does have a spot for a padlock. (at onetime i also carried my old vents mask in there too but then the lens craked. Anyway I love these cases I own 6 if you count the 2 that are my wifes.

Also be sure you take a picture of your gear, (or maybe even a friends gear if they have nicer stuff) in your case so if it is damaged or stolen you can verify what was in the box and its value.

Go to Wal-Mart, in the automaotive department is a hard plastice foot locker with 2 places for locks. It is like only $17 and will hold just about everything you put in it.

The one I have, I took 2x6 boards, and made my on sections out of it, and covered the boards with an old Military wool blanket for padding. this thing did me well for years, until I got an Extreme Rage case, those things rock now.

But for nly $17, you can buy as many as you need to transport your stuff.

                          Thanks hawpunch

Here is the official info for locks and such...I would still use a wire tie and maybe leave an extra taped to the box. Next time I travel I am still going to take the pad lock with me to see if I can use it.

You can just put your stuff in a gear bag and check it. Make sure your tanks are empty. You can buy locks if you want but if someone is going to steal your stuff a lock probably won't stop them. You may want to send your tank UPS or FEDEX if it is an important tournament you are going to.
