    Should I quit paintball?

Ok, well let me just say I love paintball, BUT I HATE PLAYING!!!! I mean everytime I play I always get hurt or have allergic reactions, and I am always sore for about a week after playing, I'm never comfortable on the feild, my gun almost never works and when it does its not the way I want it. I always leave the feild, not relaxed, or happy but feeling like crap cause I wasted nearly $100 to feel bad. I have put damn near or over 1k into my cocker over time, and it is still not perfect, I don't want to spend money on it, but it never works the way I want, I dont want to sell it because I am never going to sell something for less than half of what I'v put into it, I'd rather put it in my closet and never use it again then sell it cheap. What should I do? Do you think I should just quit and quit wasting my time, energy and money? Or should I just try to work something out?
You smell like dookie... No really though.

Who's decision is this really? It is a choice for you to make. I don't see how the opinions of others can make a serious affect on your situation. You don't seem happy playing at all in my opinion and perhaps you just need a break. I have found that I can only play so long before I eventually just need to get away from it. Evidence of this is shown in my posts. I just started posting again after about 9 months ..... this is caused by the fact that its about time for me to start playing again. Ah well just make your own decision, but you don't sound happy to me... In fact, it appears that you have already made up your mind.

Why not try to participate in the sport other than playing? You could become a tech, coach, or whatever. There are many ways to assist, support, promote, and enjoy the sport other than playing it.

        Heheheh......

Call me a Masochist I guess; One who treats pain as pleasure for you non-achademic types)... but I love paintball for just getting hit sometimes... its a rush to be like

"YAH YAH.. ouch... bounced- nice... AIGHTY bring it.. ouch... ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow... stupid Xmags and Angels hitting me 20x in a row..."

I love showing off my wounds to family and friends... and sometimes just enjoy getting hit... kinda a wake up call to say.. ur just a man.. made of flesh n bone... and are not invincible... deal with it and become more powerful to overcome your obsticals (spelling)

about your gun never working, My main guns ever were mostly mags or cockers... but i found the mags to go down less than cockers, or rather less time trying to fix what was wrong...

In anycase... I wouldn't give it up.. take a break.. but dont give it up.. change guns.. style of play... wutever

Allergic reactions to what the air? Just take some allergy medicine. Even though you don't want to, seriously consider trading/selling your marker. Just think of it this way, you want to play or you want to fix? If your always fixing like you said, then that's why your not enjoying your experience when you play and leading you to think it has been a waste. Get a marker that works, you won't want to leave.

If you just play for fun, just look for something that shoots in and out everytime you play, like the Automag. Personally, I think you picked the wrong marker for your style. Since it's sounds like you just want to play worry free, an Autococker that you personally upgraded isn't really going to be the greatest gun for that since every new part you add, you have to adjust your gun so it works for it. That's why your always having problems most likely.

I'd do this, assuming you have stock parts from your Autococker. Strip it down, sell the upgrades, then sell the gun as stock. If you don't have the stock parts, look to trade or sell. You will lose money, it's just part of the game. Maybe even try just putting the stock parts back on and see if it works to your liking, upgrades aren't always everything. If that doesn't work, get rid of the gun, otherwise you'll never have any fun playing cause it doesn't seem like anything you've tried has work.

Just don't get down by setbacks. Try out what I said and see where you end up. Good luck.

Enjoy the sport. If you're not having fun then find a way to. Start playing with a few people regularly, practice at home. How exactly are you getting hurt?

Get a pum kit. Any timing problems you make have once had will go away and you'll shoot less paint. It will also make you a better 'baller.

...or do what I did, take a short hiatus. I left the game for a few months so I could just have some freetime for once. But do whatever you want

There are definitely more ways than just playing to enjoy the sport. Personally, I have alot of fun just going out to the field and shooting photos of video clips. And later, potentially writing short pieces about the day, if I found it interesting enough.

It gives you the chance to be outside (well at least when it's not snowing outside), be with other people who enjoy the same sport as you, and to possibly see/test/try new equipment.

Well the repairs to get my cocker working right now seem pretty cheap, it seems like all I need is a new sear spring and if a flattened actuator rod will fit a blade frame that will fix alot of the problems im having. When I mean getting hurt, I mean injuring my fingers, like i did this sunday, I think I dislocated it or sprained my thumb pretty bad because the entire area around my thumb is purple and swollen and hurts realy bad, or shooting myself in the eye or falling and hurting my wrist or something like that and I hate seeing people just laying down the paint without a problem, and im stitting there trying not to let me cocker get trigger stick, so im shooting my cocker at about .5bps, hoping it dosent fail me, then suddenly an old guy comes limping out of the bushes and shoots me... Not fun... And I do enjoy tweaking and working on my cocker, but its not cool when you think u have it good and then after one game it starts crapping out on you with weird problems. And there is a new guy on my team that has a forest for a back yard so me and my team are going to try to fix it up for practice so that will bring down cost alot. But I was just soo frustrated that bad stuff always seems to happen.
You smell like dookie... No really though.

From reading your post it seems that the one main thing that is causing you to not have fun is your setup. I totally agree that on days that my gun isn't performing great I don't have a great time. I would suggest taking a break for a while and just save some money. I know that I always play for a few months straight and then take a few weeks off especially when school starts. I would suggest taking some of that money that you've saved on your little break and putting it towards getting your gun working properly. I'm not saying going out and buying more upgrades but taking it to someone and have them tuning it so that it works correctly. I'm sure once this is done you'll start to enjoy playing once again especially when you're able to actually play rather than sitting out working on a gun.

                      suck it up man!

i'm just messin with u, but seriously, it sounds like the marker is the main problem and maybe u need some cleats or something with better traction so u don't slip or maybe some gloves or a wrist support, but your never gonna get what u put into your marker.

try playing pump, it's not as stupid then getting hurt by 53529587 paintballs when someone is shooting 20bps on their nonpumpgun. It takes time to master and you don't have to burn as much dough. It doesn't even cost too much to get in, $50 grab a hammer some co2 and paint and you're ready to go.

no, I think you've just been unlucky. If you are ever doubting, you CAN come off the field feeling happy. You should try to fix thigns until you do have that feeling, I love it

Well just remember this, cause you say you love to tinker, don't mess with your marker if it works. I'm just assuming, but you may have caused some of your problems by tinkering when the marker may have been fine. And if you must tinker, make sure you know what your doing. Ask any shop owner, they'll tell you the number one problem when people bring in stuff saying it doesn't work is because they tinkered and either didn't reassemble it correctly, etc. But personally, I still think you need to try a new marker, because you and the Autococker obviously aren't working well together. I'm sure you could find someone who'd do a trade.
