    Alternitive to AGD battery charger.

Are there any other ways to power the e-mag without having to purchase a new charger? I bought my E-Mag used and it didn't come with a charger.

    question

Does anyone know the output of the emag charger?

Output would probably be at least 18V and at least 1 amp.

Sticker on the Emag charger says: NiMH Battery Charger, 16.8V/ 650 mAh
      10-15 VDC input

No, go to radio shack and get this: AC adapter (cat. No. 273-1779)
              Input: 120VAC 60Hz 28W
              Output: 12VDC 1500mA

It works for my Emag. I think it was like $12.

I personally use a motorola 16V output pack
that was left over from a cordless phone or
answering machine, I don't remember which.
But it's been working for me for about 2 yr's
now, anything over 12V with the right connector
should work for you, look thru you're junk drawer

No you can't do anything with that.
That's indeed what you would have to use if you already had the charger, and wanted to use it from the 240V (or 120V).

Yeah, sorry man. You do need the base to the Emag charger in order to use the converter I mentioned.

Mine was just laying around the house,
leftover from some broken piece of equipment.
But if you don't have the charger top that
actually goes on the battery, nothing will
work. If you need the part that connects to
the battery, you better call AGD and order one
                          first.

Having a background in R/C car, i have learned alot about NiMH technology. The most important thing to keep your cells working at there peak is proper charging. NiMH cells are very sensative to overcharging, the peak voltage cutoff indicator has to be very precise in order to not damagethe cells. I would only use a NiMH specific charger. Generally these chargers voltage cutoff is set much finer (.001v instead of .04v for NiCd).

Other chargers may work, but your batterys life could be suffering.
