So what kind of warrenty does the x-valve have? are you still doing the stars thing? changing it to moons?!? lol. just curious what kind of warrenty comes with this valve, cause the recuded price is not so reduced if you have to pay for your first repair ($45 valve)

I have seen that before, but it does not address the x-valve in particular. are they going to use the same "stars" system as before, or are they going to a 90 day only warrenty?

Airgun Designs never had a lifetime warranty on the Minimag.Originally posted by Hexis
That's cute. So the Minimag I bought with a lifetime warranty now has none.
They have they used to make a habit of repairing out of warranty items free of charge - that's going the extra mile as far as customer service is concerned. However that's not the same as a lifetime warranty. The warranty materials with the gun say 90 days.
Even after they changed by cutting back the free out of warranty repairs, AGD further extended their warranty program by adding the star system, and even now they do repairs for free at major tournaments, regardless of warranty status.

Yeah, you are right. It was not written, just implied.
This clearly implies that free warranty service was the norm before this change was made.We no longer provide free warranty service for older Classic, 68AutoMag, and Minimag valves without stars located on the valve.

Inferred (means it came from you) not implied (came from them).
They used to supply free service on out of warranty products sent in to them. Now they only provide it at special events like large tournaments.
All they promised when they manufactured your gun was to service it for free when it was under warranty.
They gave you more than that - for a period of time they serviced out of warranty items for free. That seems like something to be thankful for, not complain about.

I infer from that statement that the warranty policy has changed. That does in fact mean that the statement implies the same. It is my opinion that the new policy is in fact a worse policy for me (and other old valve owners) than the previoius policy.
If the only warranty ever honored was the original 90 day warranty, by your logic the current warranty policy should cost more. Since the older valves didn't have more than a 90 day warrenty, and the new ones have a 90 day, plus the stars. However, this would contradict the wording in the current warranty policy that states the costs have been reduced by implimenting the current policy.
The only logical conclusion that can be made is that the limitation of warranty to the number of stars has reduced the libability of AGD for warranty work, not increased it. Now that trend has continued to cut off support for older non-star valves.
I see in no way how I should be grateful for this. However, I will learn from it. I will insist in something in writing next time. I have also learned that AGD likes to change policies over time.
Not that it really matters to me that much. The only time I had to send a part to AGD for service I was very unhappy with the results. I was treated rudely on the phone, it took weeks longer than promised, and when I got my valve back, I had to rebuild it to make it work correctly. I don't expect to be sending anything to AGD, unless abosultly necessary.
I still think they make a good product. And I think their products will stand the test of time. That's good, because history teaches that the warranty could very well not be worth much.

The warranty did change, they extended it.Originally posted by Hexis

The original warranty program was 90 days.
Then they added the star program, so the warranty then included 90 days plus 2 additional servicings (or however many depending on the particular valve).
What they cut back on was the free service for non-warranty repairs.
They did give you a warrantey. A 90 day waranty - read your manual.

What you are complaining about is that they used to even do service for free on things that weren't covered under the warranty.
It was pretty cool that they used to do repairs for free on items that were out of waranty. In fact, they still do it at tournaments. How often do you see companies like Sony, Ford, Kenmore, etc., fixing something (aside from a forced government recal) on something you buy from them after the waranty expires?
It just seems out of place to blame them if they can no longer afford to do work for free which they were not obligated to do in the first place.
