Questions about Emags, and should I get one?

I really want to upgrade from my 68 automag. It has been great for a while, but now that there are more and more electros on the field I decided that I ought to invest in a new electronic marker.

I talked to the people at Pevs and some said Emag and some said impulse and some said autococker. I don't want an angel.

Before I make my decision I have some questions I must have answered based on your personal experiences.

-Do I absoloutly need a warp feed or halo to use the gun?
-If I don't, will I outshoot a VL 12 volt hopper really easily?
-Does the emag chop paintballs in cold weather (about 35-45 degrees f)?
-Is the stockbarrel very accurate and does the muzzle break cut balls like I have heard from various people?
-If so to the last one, can I remove the muzzle beak easily, or file it to a larger bore easily?
-Can the other two guns be almost as fast as the Emag and how is the customer service and reliability of Smart Parts and WGP guns?
-Which is best: powerfeed or verticle feed for an Emag.

Thanks for the help, it is greatly appreciated.

No I don't use one. Although it is easy to outshoot a rev if your not careful. Just keep it to 3 shot bursts and you should be ok.

-If I don't, will I outshoot a VL 12 volt hopper really easily?

    See above

-Does the emag chop paintballs in cold weather (about 35-45 degrees f)?

No more than any other gun

-Is the stockbarrel very accurate and does the muzzle break cut balls like I have heard from various people?

I love my stock barrel. I use it instead of my freak if I use a large bore paint. I think some just had a bad batch of muzzle breaks. Never sliced a ball in mine.

    Some have..

-Can the other two guns be almost as fast as the Emag and how is the customer service and reliability of Smart Parts and WGP guns?

In the right hands sure. Probably not the cocker but close. Do you really need to shoot over 9 a second anyway?

-Which is best: powerfeed or verticle feed for an Emag.

I have vertical feed because I had no plans to get a warp and I like the hopper centered. If you ever have plans to get a warp go for a powerfeed.

    Not a problem, you'll enjoy an e-mag.

Load said everything I would have said. Just make sure you try all the guns before you buy them. You probably know that the e-mag trigger is controlled by magnets, so it has a different feel to it. Better in my opinion.

Ir you're not going to be useing a warp I think that the Emag has the abilty to restrict the BPS in the software if you are running Electric mode only. This will stop you from out shooting your hopper. In Hybrid/Manual mode you can't restrict the BPS, but I could be wrong. I would recommend the warp to you because you don't have the blimp on top of your marker. All in all it's your marker and your choice. We can only tell you what we like and you have to take it from there.

If you like a marker that you can tinker with and tweak: Buy a cocker.
If you want a straight electro: Buy and Impluse.
If you want a marker that you use with dead batteries, backed buy a company with a great service record, and a forum full of friendly people will to help you out when you need it: Then buy an E-mag and know you made the right choice.

        Just remeber it's your choice.

I hope this has help you out some.

OK. I'm gonna make the asumption that money isn't the issue. However, if you have to struggle finacially to get an Emag, you shouldn't get one. You'll use too much paint. I have used all three marker that your talking about. All three are good and you would probably like all three.

An Autocker takes some getting used too, especially the trigger pull. Also, this is just my opinion, it seems like they break a little easier than other guns. Once you master it however, they are sweet (not as god as my mag, but hey what did you expect on a mag forum).

The Impulses are a great gun for the money. My only problem is the trigger pull. It is very sloppy. Too much side to side and a little too long. However, it is one of the few guns that comes with a great stock barrel (it comes from Smart Parts after all)

The Emag is a beast. It is fast, compact, and relativly easy to work on for an elctro. Plus you have the best tech support I have ever encountered. It is a little pricy and if you do get it you really should get a HALO. Not neccessary but it definatly helps. An added plus is the manual mode that allows you to keep playing when your batteries die. And yes that will happen.

Another option you might want to look at is Bob Long's Intimidator. They're funny looking, but they can shoot. And the have the electronic eye so you won't chop.

Out of all of these I would go with the emag or the timmy. They are both great guns. try them out and see which one you like.
By the way, I think AGD is still offering E-mag conversions, so you may want to look into that.

To emag.. or not to emag.. that is the question..

I am currently dealing with this problem also.. I recently got play with an e-mag.. Wow.. it was nice.. I loved it.. I had used an Angel earlier and liked it also, but it wasn't what the emag was.. To me.. the emag is the best choice, mainly due to the mech/electro switch.. I played this last weekend with an Emag.. The battery started to go.. If i had been playing with an angel or other electro, i would have had to packed up and gone home.. but what did I do? Flipped the switch and got to play a couple games of speedball.. the emag will sling paint like a champ.

I'm getting one.. as soon as I can afford it...

I'll try to add a few things...

              1. Naw, you don't need a HALO/Warp. You can limit the ROF thru the software. I have a Warp, and I'm still not sure if it's gonna stay on the gun. It's heavy, and makes the gun a bit unwieldy. I played without a warp on the gun, and liked it that way. The Warp DOES give you an insane ROF, at funky gun angles to boot.

              2. It will outshoot a Revy (set that ROF down to 10 or so BPS)

              3. My E-Mag has only chopped 2 balls, both my fault.

              4. My stock barrel had "issues" I resolved them quite easily. The muzzle break unscrews easily with a little heat. No big deal.

              5. I have a hopper/Left body as well as a warp body. The HL has sustained a 12BPS ROF, with a Revy that has a TurboRev board in it. Is it better than Vert Feed? I dunno.

The whole "I can switch to manual mode" thing is overrated. A battery charge is good for 20,000 shots. There's no reason why you can't keep the battery topped up. Revy/Warp batteries are more of an issue. They need to be fresh.

Impulse, not bad for the money (don't pay extra for the anti-chop eye (ACE) if you ask me)
'Cockers, They're great guns, when they work (that can be said about ALL high-end guns, though)

              Happy Hunting

edit: Should you buy one? YES! udtseal has a beauty for sale. Check it out.

                Thanks for the help people!!!!!

I am now leaning toward getting the Emag and I have learned a lot from your posts. One of the coolest things about having an automag is definately this forum. Does WGP have one? No. Does Smart Parts have one? No.
I am still going to try out a few other high end semis at the big game that Pevs is hosting, but the Emag is top on my list of which gun to buy.
As for the blue Emag that Seal has posted, I don't know that I want it. It's really nice, but he said that he's had problems with it and it is $200 more than I would like to spend. I really like the way that it looks and I want it so I'll look into it, despite my bad premonitions about the marker.

                    Fairfax and Rockville

I live in D.C. an I usually go to the store in Fairfax b/c Rob, the guy that knows everything about automags is usaully there in case I have a gun problem. I went to the Pevs in Rockville and I was happy that they put one closer to my house. I usually play at either AG or Hogback. Where do you play?
