Need Buying Advice FAST!

Guys, have a chance to pick up an impy with tapeworm(?) mod for $250. Just got back with a clean bill of health from smarty parts. Comes with max-flo reg or something. Good deal? Should I jump on it?

Well. Just bought it. Never even shot one before. The local shop sells em for like $600 so I figured if I didn't like it I could sell it or trade it for something.

Uh don't know. No probs. Serial number checks out ok. looks like it's not vision ready though

find out something about the gun before you buy it. i searched these threads for 3 months before i bought my mag

I researched paintball for almost an entire year before I actually got a gun, then I had to wait SEVEN MORE MONTHES before I actually played with it at all, the whole time of course I would research (which made my gun obsolete )

I called smart parts and they were pretty useless, but confirmed they had tuned it and given it a clean bill of health. Checked the pro shops around and the local impy freak. Then checked out impulse owners group for updates etc.

It's 0004945 which puts it at the thicker trigger, but not vision ready. If I read correctly.


Research, yeah I do that. But occasionaly there are instances in which taking the time to do research is faulty. But I have been involved in paintball for almost 10 years now. Been reading about every type of marker possible for years. I just don't know retail value.
I do know what a max flo reg is, but I already have one and a few other regs so that's not important to me. Just the marker. Need a backup/loaner to my trusty dragon mag.

i'm very curious as to why it was so cheap....was someone trying to get rid of it fast to pay debts?

i guess that was a good deal, but since it is a VERY old imp (they are in the 20k serial numbers now) he porbably couldnt have sold it for more than 300,

u still got a good deal, just not one of those insane deals (like a emag for 400 or something like that)

to make it a kick *** imp, get a blade trigger, delrin bolt, and a lpr& valve

Yup, credit card bill came after buying a bunch of speakers. I wouldn't have done it, but it was checked out by SP.

Yeah, I picked up an eclipse blade trigger and a delrin bolt for like $20. Does the lpr make a big difference?
Also, I heard non vision ready impys can be milled a bit to drop a vision board in. Is that true and worth it?

if you have a fast hopper, then vision doesnt really matter, i'm getting a evo2 becausei can outshoot my xboard rev with vortex impeller

the LPRs make a huge difference in efficiency, kick, and noise

if you get a LPR and a new valve (i recommend the New Designz GMFV) you can expect about 1500 shots per 68/45 tank
