My LX superbolt fell apart :(

Hey guys. While my gun was acting really odd (and strange) maybe 15 minutes ago, my superbolt fell apart (dont worry, its resolved, keep reading)

    Anyhow......

I've got 2 RT's. I'm selling 1 of em. One of em was finicky last time I used it, so I took my Retro's apart side by side to make sure everything was fine. They seemed to match, so I put em together, tested out the one I'm selling and it shot like a champ. I think it was actually this devilish ASA that gave me trouble before.......ANNNNYHOW.

When i tried to show my pops my sweet LX retro mag like 20 minutes ago, it was shooting baddddly. It would only shoot on some pulls, sometimes the sear would just stay back and it wouldnt fire. Sometimes it would shoot on the release. Sometimes I'd have to push the bolt back in place with a pen from the front...etc. etc.

Annyhow, at first I took it apart and checked the on/off assembly cuz my parts for the on/off got mixed up between my 2 Retro's, and even though they both looked to be in the same shape, I figured maybe that's where the problem got transfered over. Wrong, did the same thing.

The next time i took it all apart, i checked the level 10. Maybe I needed to change carriers or something. As i was looking in there I noticed what looked like a screw head.....How the hell did a screw get in there?!?

Anyhow, after excessive annoyance I got the carrier and the mysterious foreign object out. What the bajeesus is this thing? It doesnt look like anything I could have put in there, and it doesnt look like anything inside a retro valve...where the hell did it come from.

Ahhhha! the bolt. It seems the back part of the LX bolt fell off inside my bolt (while the gun was un-used it seems....bizarre, cuz it worked when I shot 1500psi out of the tank that was on it to ship it out on monday...)

Anyhow, I put it back where it came from, smacked it on the table, reassembled, and she shot like a million bucks (and crazy reactive too )

Anyhow....should that part of the bolt be removable?
LOL, that's a long long post to get to my question...is there something wrong, or is what happened normal, i should just smash it back in there hard and play ball?

    Thanks guys and gals

That piece on the earlier bolts was removable. It made the manufacturing process easier. The friction from the carrier o-ring would eventually pull it out. I'd take it back out, and clean off the tip and put a small dab of red loctite on it and tap it back in with a brass or nylon head hammer. Make sure it goes in so the bolt face to the tip of the pin measures out to be 2.010"

Muhahaha Fat Red Head to the rescue! I was very accurate with the application of force. I simply pushed until my shoes slipped on the floor.........
I've had both of my lvl 10 bolts do this
