Words of wisdom...
When you exit the bus on arrival, look straight ahead, dont look the drill sgts in the eye, that only invites them to mess with you. Pack stuff that won't break when you drop your duffle bag (ie no glass or fragile items) as you will be playing "Dufflebag shuffle", picking it up and dropping it on the ground repeatedly. Pack only what you need, don't bring extra crap, they will provide you with everything you need for basic. Also, if you're smart, you will sleep every free chance you get.
You're going to have alot crap done to you on the first week, don't take it personally, its for your and your fellow soldiers good that they beat all individual thinking out of you and mold you into a team, someday your life may depend upon the guy you don't know watching your back, he will expect the same.
Always give 100%, you will be sore and tired, that goes away eventually once you get used to the heavy exercise routine, make the most of your time there to gain strength.
Copmbine your paintball skills with the combat skills you will learn at basic when your platoon goes to the field (last couple of weeks or so of basic). You guys will play with the MILES gear (laser tag), have fun with it. You think your marker is heavy now, wait until you get to carry an M60 around with 100 pounds of combat gear.
Never get upset and do something that you will later regret, do not hit another soldier no matter how much you want to, no blanket parties. Do not hit you drill sgt no matter how much they taunt you. Your patience will be tried time and again, you will come close to losing your temper with team mates who shouldn't really be a basic training. There was one when I went through boot that got us an extra million pushups over the course of basic. Suck it up and drive on, all that extra work just makes you stronger.
Relax and learn, the skills you learn there may very well save your life in the future, especially considering the state of world peace today. You will see guys who coast through basic, don't be one of them, those are the guys you don't want watching your back.
God Speed!

Good Luck
Good Luck!
In Army Speak "All The Way!" (You'll understand this later)
My advice is this:
Do EXACTLY what they say nothing more, nothing less. Don't think about what they are telling you just do it. Once you get past basic and AIT things will ease up. If you get deployed stay safe and always keep your wits about you.
Come back to us soon.WANG Force!

AIT will have access to computers, say hello when you get there (be ready for a total lockdown when you first get to AIT. It sucks, but passes)
At your first opportunity, post your EMail and snail-mail addy's so we can write you.
Evil Bob is spot on, do what they tell you as fast and complete as possible. Don't worry about screwing up for the first few weeks, they expect you to. Your barracks will never be right until the end of Blue Phase, just do your best to keep it clean and dressed-right. On the rifle range, remember to "breathe and squeeze". Don't focus on the target, but make the front sight sharp and clear, everything else falls into place by itself. When you pack your ruck, be sure your rain gear is on top, with extra socks right under that, and clean T-shirt under that. Nothing better than to stay dry this time of year, and new socks with a fresh T-shirt will boost your moral way up after a long hump.
When the Drill is right in front of you, look through him at the trees or walls behind him, do not look him in the eyes, he will eat you for that:) After Reception, your new hell starts. Ignore it, keep your mouth shut, do what they tell you to do. If asked any questions, YELL out the answer, but BEGIN ALL AND END ALL answers (or questions) with "Drill Sergeant..." If you do not know an answer, say so, do not bumble around thinking of something. The Drill will still yell at you for not knowing, but he won't yell at you for a stupid or wrong answer...which is much better.
Good Luck brother, I'm proud of you. HOOAH
